An antiseptic is used to sterilize a wound

Being conspicous enables you to get attention

One cannot confound something that is indistinguishable

One cannot overlook something that is exceptional

7)b

A Daguerrotype is prototype or an imititation of a photograph

Similarly the same goes for a pastiche wrt a painting

ok.now i know the bridge for this

6)a

One cannot confound something that is indistinguishable

One cannot overlook something that is exceptional

confound=confuse.

so 2 things that are indistinguishable can be confounded with each other.

2 things that are equivalent can be exchanged with each other.

Rt now i dont have de OAs. i will post it later.

) sedative : pacify ::

A) scalpel : cauterize B) analgesic : discomfit C)surgery : operate

D) antiseptic : sterilize E) stimulant : induce

I go with E as it seems a more strong correlation.

A sedative is only used to pacify;A stimulant is only used to induce

But, antiseptic isnt only used to sterilise; it can be used as a anitbacterial/antiviral agent too...

5) Authoritative : Acceptance ::

X is used in ancient time for Y

Please let me know whether i am rite or not.

Is there a spelling mistake in option d?

Bridge: Hack: to cut / sever ; ( dont get confused with computer hacking.......:)

Gouge: to chisel/make holes

So, the relation i think is you cut out a stone to carve it;

you make holes while engraving a piece of metal/wood/stone

( I had to refer for this one as I didnt know what hack actually meant....:rolleyes: )

Why isnt option stimulant: induce not considered?

I m befuddled with this one.......:(

This is how I thought

A sedative allays ones emotions for a certain period of time

A stimulant induces a person for a certain period of time

But, Antiseptic makes one free of germs totally.....

hmm...cant get it.

10)HACK : CARVE :: gouge : engrave

X is a tool for Y

Hack is a tool for cutting and carving similarly gouge is a type of chiesel for engraving.

11) FIRM : IRONCLAD :: Smart : brilliant

Shruti,

sedative : pacify :: antiseptic : sterilize

sedative is drug which causes calmness and relaxation, drug that reduces tension and anxiety(pacify) similarly anteseptic is a substance which causes microorganisms to destroy (sterilize i.e disinfect )

induce is GENERATE, breed, cause, engender.

stimulant is something that promotes activity, interest, or enthusiasm.

stimulant cannot cause to induce..wrong bridge

I hope my explanation is lucid....

suitcase : luggage :: hat : millinery

X is Y( synonym variant).

luggage is suitcases, cases and bags carried by travellers similarly millinery is women's hat also profession or business of designing, making, or selling hats.

I am not sure but i think this is the only probable bridge.....
