MIT - "Official Transcripts (one for each undergraduate and graduate institution attended)"

 

This is from the general admissions page. Unless the economics page says that we need to send two transcripts (and I don't see this anywhere there), I think we only need to send 1 for MIT.

They told me that essentially the second set of transcripts would be necessary only if you are admitted. I guess this is the case in all the other cases where 2 are required.

^^ I don't think we can assume that's the case everywhere. Stanford and UBC both say they require two sets upon application, and I certainly wouldn't recommend anyone assume they don't actually need the second yet and just send one.

Looks like UCLA do. I'm not sure what WUSTL want - the econ admissions page says photocopies are fine, but the GSAS page says you need official, sealed transcripts.

However, here Application Instructions | THE GRADUATE SCHOOL "The Graduate School of Arts & Sciences requires one copy of the official, confidential transcript from each institution (undergraduate or graduate) the applicant has attended. . . . Submit official transcripts to the program to which you are applying." (graduate school)

does anybody know how Harvard's notification system works? All I can see online is the "Submission Confirmation".

will they send me an email "your application is now complete and forwarded for review"? also, do they confirm once they receive the hardcopy transcripts by mail?

Cornell's deadline is Jan 15 here Cornell University Economics Graduate School Also Cornell doesn't require hard copies of transcript. It's mentioned in the front page too

So I submitted my application for WUSTL and there's a section where it indicates if your materials have been received, including the transcripts.... But isn't it true that we don't have to send it as quoted above? I'm starting to freak out as I'm no longer in the US and won't come back until late Jan (way after the deadline)..... What do you think?

I am also encountering the same problem. Since the Graduate School says "submit the official transcript to the program to which you are applying", I believe it's a requirement by the department, so it's reasonable for us to just follow the instructions given by the Econ Department. Although I really want to mail my official transcripts to be safe, I just couldn't find an appropriate address on their website...

I should probably put this in the Sweat Thread, because I am sweating...

 

I mailed Maryland's transcripts (from a local mailbox) last Tuesday because I didn't want them to receive it too early (before my application was submitted). Now I am in huge regrets... according to USPS, which also gave me a freakout in early December, and to Maryland, the package is hanging out somewhere. Since the deadline was yesterday, does this mean my application is late and won't be considered?

 

I've already emailed the school with this question but felt like sweating it out here as well.
