  1. Yeah...thats how they do it at ucsd...they reqiure you to take those courses...and if at the conclusion you have passed them with a 3.0....then you are admitted into the real major...they do that to further whittle down the applicant pool...since they dont have enough spaces and they know some students will switch majors/rethink their career.....from my experiences in the engineering fields...i can tell you that getting a bioengineering degree(bs) is only good if you plan on pursuing a doctorate....otherwise you're going to have a hard time finding a job...however...the bioengineering program for which you've been accepted is premedical...so if med school is your untimalte goal..then i would definitely suggest ucsd. However...if you are uncertain....or know that you would like to work after obtaining your b.s....or maybe just take a break to decide your future...then a chemical engineering degree is more beneficial...i have friends in both fields...and i can tell you that it was a struggle for my bio friends to locate jobs.....either way....both schools offer strong programs in both fields.....so it may just come down to a choice between location/finances....either good luck.
  2. I would go with Brown or Wisconsin. They are ver well known among schools and employers...so afterwards...if you decide to go into academia or work...you'll definitely improve your chances.
  3. Having a degree from an Ivy league school will help you immensely no matter which part of the country you decide to work at......however the same cannot be said of ucla. My pick would be Upenn.
  4. Anybody heard anything from USC regarding an MS in EE??....I mean..what in the world is taking them soo damn long. Are we in...or are we out...its not that difficult a decision. It's almost April...and i've been waiting all this damned time for some sort of notification while they sit around twiddling their fingers and cashing in all the checks for their outrageously over priced education. SEND US notification already...if you want us...you want us...if you dont...then you dont....lets freakin move on already.
  5. Here are some of the questions I remember: Non-baron words: Laze, Vitriol, Bumptious x,y,z are positive integers with standard deviation d. A: the standard deviation of x+1,y+1,z+1 B: d+1 (x-6)(x^2 - 9)(x^2 - 1) = 0 A: The average arithmetic mean of the 5 roots B: 5/6 if you guys have any more questions....just ask....now to sleep...goodnight :)
  6. Well guys...just got back from the test center. I have the nastiest headache ever...the past 5 nights i've slept very little due to nervousness...my head is pounding right now:mad: ...however, I want to share my experience...but first and foremost...I want to thank God for giving me the strength to study for 4.5 months, especially on those days when I was so exhaused I felt my brain would explode...I owe my result to Him. I also want to thank everyone on this site who's posted...it helped enormously. And to any hispanic people reading this post right now...I just want to say that with some hard work and dedication...a good result is definitely possible...so never give up. Like I said...I studied for about 4.5 months. Those of you have read about the increasing difficulty of math...guys...please relax....that is really an over exaggeration. The exam is fairly easy, they test the MOST basic SD and prob ideas...I think some people on this forum have hyped it way too much. For my preparation I used Barron's, Kaplan, and the ETS book with 7 exams. Barrons is more than enough for verbal. You should still expect to see about 1-2 nonbarron words, but usually you know enough to either rule these and arrive at the right answer. For math, Barron's and TM are more than enough. I think the level of difficulty of some of the questions on this forum were much more difficult than the ones in the actual exam. My PP scores were the following: PP1 V 710 Q 790 PP2 V 720 Q 800 Real GRE V 690 Q 790 As you can see, my score went down during the real exam by a bit...like I said...I going on almost no sleep right now....but i'm not gonna make any excuses...1480 is what I got..and considering 4 months ago when I took my first diagnostic I had 1150!....I consider this a success story. :) I actually remember a lot of questions from the exam...not sure if its permissible to post them here...but just let me know. Anyways....once again...just believe in yourself...never give up....and above all else....just remember that the sun will rise tomorrow....so be optimistic and meet life with a smile:) good luck guys!
  7. congrats on your score Do you remember any math questions or verbal words?
  8. I agree with cridamour. It's actually a good score. And again, it depends on what schools you're applying to and gpa, research papers, sop etc...so just keep that in mind. Do you remember any questions from math?
  9. Actually, question #4 is D. If x=0.0001, then y>100.

    $4,500 at 9$/share means you can buy 500 shares. $3000 at 10$/share means you can buy 300 shares. Therefore, average price per share is (4,500 + 3000)/(500 + 300). => 7500/800=9.375
  11. oops...messed up too. yeah...mishum's right.
  12. if it helps...for question #1 you have (root(3)+1)/2 and root(3). If you subtract root(3) from each side....you get the comparison between 1/2 - root(3)/2 and 0. The left side is negative, which is less than 0, so the answer is B. good luck on your exam!
  13. congratulations on being done. I hate to be the one to bust your bubble, but honestly, with those scores, you're going to have a really hard time getting admitted into any top 10. If I were you I'd definitely retake the exam, but if you don't have the time, then consider more realistic schools. Anyways, best of luck.
  14. congratulations bro...good to see you with a nice score. Now that you've officially crossed over into the "i'm done" camp...how bout sharing any questions you might remember? Any probability or SD? good luck with admissions
