  1. qiwenfarmer ...and why not come to America to study French??? I could list hundreds of reasons why it would be a great idea to study French (PhD) in America... The most important for me is that I am a perm. resident and should take advantage of it...:) :) :) . Since I am no good at CS or EE, I think it's best to apply for what I am best at, no??
  2. Plazzin: that's easy for you to say, after all with near perfect scores like yours... As someone once said (dunno who), your SoP is the only part of your application you really have control over, why not make it the best???
  3. Wow, 1st Nov. I though my deadline of 1st December was very early - Good luck to you, if Essayedge deliver as they promise so, then you are already halfway in!
  4. Hi Whipcream, I feel honoured to welcome you even though GMAT is not my "bag of beans". You'll definately find lots of help, advice in the GMAT and TOEFL forums. Enjoy!
  5. Wonderful...since they promise an evaluation within 48 hrs, I think I wait for you to post on your experience before I give it a go...cowardly approach huh:rolleyes:
  6. The idea of having my SoP professionally edited would never have crossed my mind but after seeing some samples of the "befores" and "afters" on the Essayedge website, I'm almost game. Who has had any experience with them??? Are they for real?? I'm really starting to get nervous about the quality of my SoP after seeing some of the samples!:(
  7. I thought "bury your blemishes and flaunt your strengths" was the better way to go about it. Why waste the much needed words on pointing out blemishes...
  8. Thanks all for the words of wisdom:) :) :) . Now to my SoP:hmm: :hmm: :hmm:
  9. Hi all, it's great to be part of this wonderful forum. I wish I had learnt about it before taking my GRE:( . I'm from Mauritius and hope to meet great people here!
  10. Hi all, I'm new to the forum - it's really great but rather intimidating. Is everyone applying just to CS, EE, Econ.... programs? I have taken the GRE, TOEFL but the scores posted here make me feel like I should resit my GRE. These are my stats: GRE: 640V (90%), 490Q (23%) and 5 AWA. TOFEL 297 GPA 3.8 MA, 3.2 BA (3.7 in French) I am applying for French Studies. Do I have a chance at the top schools? Should I retake my GRE:yuck: I asked the admission office at UPENN and Princeton if my rather unimpressive GRE scores mattered and they said the most important are the LORS and SOP. Were they just trying to make me feel better? Someone please give me the cold hard truth.
