hi...i read the sentence n although i can't boast of a very high verbal score, I just wanted to see if I cud help...forgive me if my answer if my answer turns out to be wrong. It sometimes helps to get clues from the sentence itself. See, the sentence has two blanks, one blank describes the scientific language used in reports, which is likely to be pertaining to a very specific issue, right? so the language shud seem like it is dealing with a certain subject or issue(reports r written on subjects or specific issues). But the most important clue is the word"figurative" which means language using "figure of speech". Now which of the given options has in the second blank a figure of speech? A metaphor is a figure of speech. so i guess correct answer shud be E, subjective....metaphorical. i know it seems pretty complicated but it might help if u try to understand what the sentence is trying to say. it seems to say that although scientific language is deemed different and more specific than figurative language in reality it uses figurative language too and hence is like other languages. Hope the approach helps. Let me know if the answer is right/wrong?
Now a faster approach for similar questions:
if there r two blanks: deal with them in steps blank 1 & blank 2:
Blank 1:seemingly precise and one used in reports n scientific subjects:Subjective
Blank 2:similar to all languages, including ones using figurative words like metaphors etc.:metaphorical
Do lemme know if answer is correct by my logic, ok? best of luck.
