  2. Thank you very much coralnymph....this will be a great help for those you will be taking the test.
  3. Report of the Task Force to Review The Toefl iBt Requirement is now released. It will retain the score requirement of 26 in the speaking part. See NABP website under Committee and Task Force Reports.:(
  4. Hi. You need to do it in writing, then fax or mail the letter to NABP. Make sure you have the receipt notice if you mail the letter or the confirmation that the fax went thru. So you have the record that you sent them the letter.
  5. Your FPGEC Application file may be CLOSED by NABP - Be Informed! Good day. I have inquired the NABP customer service about my file if it is still open, because I am having a trouble completing the English requirement. I passed the FPGEE December 2005 but failed the meet the iBt score requirements. The NABP representative told me that eventhough my file is still open, I need to fax and/or mail a letter informing the committee that I am still completing their requirements. This is because, applications of 2 years or more may be closed or deleted in their database, and once it happens, I need to re-apply again...repeat the processing of my FPGEC application from the START!!!! Imagine getting those documents from your school, the money, the time, and worst of all, the need to take the FPGEE again! So for all who are in the same boat as mine....please call the NABP and make sure your application file is not closed. Your EE number is important for the inquiry. The NABP customer No. 847-391-4406.

  8. Hi there. We are on the same boat. Never been lucky with the iBT. I took the Pharmacy Technician Exam Certification last August 2008. The exam is very easy, modesty aside, I almost got a perfect score...It has 80-90 questions... there are alot of computations but mostly ratio and poroportion. I used the book recommended by the Association of Hospital Pharmacists for Pharmacy techs. (Purple book) You can see the link at PTCB website. But the sad part is, I have applied to several companies and hospitals already here in L.A. but until now I am still waiting for their calls. Good-luck!
  9. Is it possible for me to request another rescoring for a god, good, fair - 24 score? I already did the rescoring but the score stays at 24. And I read one post saying that from fair-fair-fair, 22 score, she got good, good, fair -26 after rescoring...Isn't this test is really unfair????
  10. I am a follower of all your discussions about the ordeal we are facing with this Toefl-ibt. I for one have taken the test for 10 times already and I just cannot explain how disappointed I am right now. About the current newsletter, here are my thoughts: The NABP is not considering another type of English procifiency test except the iBT and TSE for the FPGEC. Therefore, the NABP should oblige the ETS to schedule or have more testing centers for TSE worldwide specifically here in the U.S. Initially, the ETS phased out the TSE I think last October 2005 here in the U.S., making the TOEFL iBT as the only English test available for us who reside in the U.S. This action of the ETS forced the other testakers to go back to their homecountry or travel to another country where TSE is being offered just to take this test. I knew several who become successful in doing so. Now, last June 2008, I saw on the TSE website of the ETS, that the TSE again is being offered in some locations here in the U.S. There are two testing centers here in California, one in San Diego and one in Los Angeles. I tried to schedule at least one to the 4 dates posted, for the months of August, October, January 2009, March 2009, but I was not successful. My point here is if the ETS is offering the TSE again here in the U.S., why not offer the TSE as often as the iBT? In this way, we have another option, and we don't need to go back to our home countries just to take this test. NABP is telling us that the TSE score of 50 is the same as the 26 score of the iBT speaking component. I don't think this is a fair comparison because the Integrated Speaking of the iBT and the whole Toefl iBT for that matter is more academic than the TOEFL paper-based or computer-based and TSE, and therefore, the NABP should not set as high standards or scores as they have right now for the TOEFL iBT. I think the NABP should consider the following for scoring: A total score requirement for the Toefl-ibt and not setting score requirement for each task. Another option is to allow the testtaker to repeat only the test for the specific task that he did not meet the requirement. Lastly, to consider a GOOD,GOOD, FAIR score for the Speaking part as an acceptable score. I got these levels but still scored 24. The rescoring was not on my favor. I hope their October review will provide us some hopes and not additional pains.
  11. Hi Knok. I live in Glendale, CA. I hope I can help. I am also a frustrated testtaker of the iBT.
  12. This is very depressing already. i got my rescore yesterday, and the score did not change... still 24 on speaking...for 2 good level responses and 1 fair. Don't know if I will still take this exam....I am tired already:(
  13. I also got 24 in speaking on may 30th test, which i am very confident that i can even get a score higher than 26! The test facilitator even heard my answers and told me after the test that he was sure I'll be getting a high score in speaking.....with 2 good(s), 1 fair, level scores....I still got 24!!!! :( The rest of my score: R-27, L-25, W-25
  14. That is a big confusion for me. On the speaking part, before I got 2 fairs, 1 good and got 24 score...now...my last test on may 30th, i got 2 goods and 1 fair but still got 24! Isn't this test sooooo unfair!!!!:grumpy:
  15. I got my score today and very disappointed with my score in speaking. With 2-good (s), 1-fair level, I got 24! The sad part is I can't understand how come, my 2-fair (s), 1 good level before is also 24?! This test is really unfair! NABP should consider other English Test. I'll submit a rescoring request AGAIN! Hopefully, it will become 26, with GOD's MERCY ( I should say).:(
  16. I got my score today: Reading 28 Listening 24 Speaking 26 Writing 20 Isn't it frustrating?:( After getting my needed score in speaking, I failed the writing....:wallbash:
  17. I purchased the Barrons 10 CD's at amazon.com and borrowed the book at the library. I thinfk the book is perfect for the test preparation. I used the ETS Guide book for the list of essay topics. Some of these topics are sometimes asked in the independent speaking. Distractions are normal part of taking the test. I get used to it because I took the test for several times already and we can't do anything about it unless ETS provide us an individual booth for more privacy which is very impossible for them to do.
  18. Hi there. I've just finished my test today. Here are some thoughts: The reading passages and listening conversations and lectures are more difficult than before. I almost run out of time on both. The 2 familiar topics in the speaking task are easy. They are somewhat related or the same as the essay topics in ETS official guide and the Barron's Speaking questions. The lecture is also easy to understand but I runned out of time expressing the ideas. The campus related situations are also easy to discuss. The integrated writing task is difficult while the independent task is easy.I really don't know if I will be able to make it. The required ratings in my prof. are high. I'm just praying for the best.
  19. Hi Tino and all who responded to this. I think Tino and I were referring to the same TOEFL-ibt professor. I am in touch with him about the supposed to be TOEFL-iBT class . But unfortunately, Some of us want to do it in a classroom and not on-line. The classroom instruction is quite not applicable because of the ff reasons and requirements: 1. We need to look for the place possibly where we can have the class. 2. Students should have the same schedule or availability. Right now I don't have much time to organize this ASAP because I am also preparing for the OCTOBER test. I am sorry. But I would like to show you the link to his website, I know he can definitely help each one of us...at a cheaper cost. Welcome to www.toeflprofessor.com, your online ibt toefl teacher There is a demo part where he will show how he does the on-line tutoring. I hope this helps. Good luck!
  20. Hi. If you are a testtaker who wants to do an on-line or class preparation for the iBT, especially the FPGEE passers who are having trouble with this test, pls. email me through this forum. I am organizing a group to have a class with one of the ibt professors here in L.A. at a lower fee. I am one of the "victims" of this test. I am taking the test again this October, and this is a perfect time for those taking the test too in October. Thanks.
  21. Thanks for sharing this website. I find it very helpful.
  22. Hi everyone! After a long break from this forum...I am back to encourage those who are about to give up from this test. I know I am not the only FPGEE passer who is now trapped and cannot move on because of the 26 speaking - score requirement of the NABP. I took the test several times and to my disappointment, my score on this task is always 24! One time I got 26 on the speaking part but got 20 on the reading, still not acceptable to earn the certificate. But I am not going to stop this battle. Good if NABP will lower their score requirements but if not, then I just need to keep on keeping on in this fight. I know I will end up as a winner. :)
  23. P.S. for the chemical structures, you must be familiar with them. I got 10 last june. Shargel book is a good ref. on this,
  24. Hi. for the website pharmainfo.net, these are important additional informations for you to read.... 1. on the Statistics part, the T-test, ANOVA, paired test, chi-squared, etc. 2. Further knowledge on Pharmacokinetics on the ff: Dose-Response curve Routes of administration plots, e.g. IV bolus, Iv infusion, oral, etc... Bioavailability First Order, Zero order 3. Take the pharmacology quizzes to test how much you already know. Of course, these are only ADDITIONAL INFOS for the SHARGEL knowledge you MUST know by now>>> For the math portion, yes you are not allowed to use the calculator. Figures are easy to compute don't worry. you just need to know which among the given numbers are you going to use especially if you are using a formula to solve the problem. that's the confusing part. Sometimes, they are giving numbers you don;t need to solve the problem. ok...good luck to all. break a leg!!!
