  1. I am currently on vacation. I will write the debrief shortly. In summary, i screwed up the quant. It was easy to get atleast 49. I thought i did well on verbal but still got 38. Anyhow, i think i am done with this. I have a good acads so i hope this score will not be a big deal.
  2. 2nd attempt. First one i got 670. Though 700 is not that great, but good thing is that breakdown of my score is good. Q-48 (85%) V-38 (84%) Total: 700 (92 %). Thanks
  3. Which of the following most logically completes the argument below? The expansion of large-scale farming in Africa and Asia has destroyed much of the natural vegetation on which elephants have historically depended, forcing them to turn to cultivated land to satisfy their enormous appetites. As a result, farmers have lost millions of dollars worth of crops annually. Yet even if elephant sanctuaries were created on a widespread basis to guarantee elephants sufficient natural vegetation, the raiding would likely persist, since (A) when elephants forage for food, they typically travel in herds. (B) foraging elephants have been known to cause substantial damage even to plants that they do not eat. © some of the land where crops have suffered extensive damage from elephants has been allowed to return to its natural state. (D) elephants tend to prefer cultivated crops to wild vegetation as a food source (E) elephant sanctuaries are usually created in areas that are rich in the natural vegetation on which elephants have historically depended. 4. Research of fine arts during the Kalings rule should not exclude the often ignored advances in design of musical instruments that developed at the same time as the origin of native dance form called Odissi a) that developed at the same time as the origin of native dance form called Odissi b) that had developed at the same time as had the origin of native dance form called Odissi c) that developed at the same time as the origin of native dance form called Odissi had d) developing at the same time as the origin of native dance form called Odissi did OK..I have a basic question. In option c and d, i see "had" and "did" at the end. When do we normally use this. I just am having tough time understanding this rule. Can someone please explain?
  5. Even though more money was removed out of stock funds in July as in any month since October 1987, sales of fund shares in July were not as low as an industry trade group had previously estimated. as in any month since October 1987, sales of fund shares in July were not as low as as had been in any other month since October 1987, sales of fund shares in July were not as low as what than there was in any other month since October 1987, sales of fund shares in July were not as low as that which than in any month since October 1987, sales of fund shares in July were not as low as than in any other month since October 1987, sales of fund shares in July were not as low as whatI picked smething different from OA.
  6. 1. In large doses, analgesics that work in the brain as antagonists to certain chemicals have caused psychological disturbances in patients, which may limit their potential to relieve severe pain. (A) which may limit their potential to relieve (B) which may limit their potential for relieving © which may limit such analgesics’ potential to relieve (D) an effect that may limit their potential to relieve (E) an effect that may limit the potential of such analgesics for relieving
  7. Two experimental garden plots were each planted with the same number of tomato plants. Magnesium salts were added to the first plot but not to the second. The first plot produced 20 pounds of tomatoes and the second plot produced 10 pounds. Since nothing else but water was added to either plot, the higher yields in the first plot must have been due to the magnesium salts. Which of the following, if true, most seriously weakens the argument above? (A) A small amount of the magnesium salts from the first plot leached into the second plot. (B) Tomato plants in a third experimental plot, to which a high-nitrogen fertilizer was added, but no magnesium salts, produced 15 pounds of tomatoes. © Four different types of tomatoes were grown in equal proportions in each of the plots. (D) Some weeds that compete with tomatoes cannot tolerate high amounts of magnesium salts in the soil. (E) The two experimental plots differed from each other with respect to soil texture and exposure to sunlight. OA:
  8. I just thought to ask you this...I have a feeling my GMAT score is not upto top 10 universities...do you suggest trying it again to bump it to 700+? I am just thinking how much will it help as I can easily show my acads through undergrad and grad performance.
  9. Is it okay to use the pronoun before we define what it is refering to (antecedent)? I was looking at following question and couldn't understand the OA? Can someone please explain the rule in this case? According to some analysts, whatever its merits, the proposal to tax away all capital gains on short-term investments would, if enacted, have a disastrous effect on Wall Street trading and employment. (A) its merits, the proposal to tax (B) its merits may be, the proposal of taxing © its merits as a proposal, taxing (D) the proposal’s merits, to tax (E) the proposal’s merits are, taxing
  10. In Millington, a city of 50,000 people, Mercedes Pedrosa, a realtor, calculated that a family with Millington’s median family income, $28,000 a year, could afford to buy Millington’s median-priced $77,000 house. This calculation was based on an 11.2 percent mortgage interest rate and on the realtor’s assumption that a family could only afford to pay up to 25 percent of its income for housing. Which of the following corrections of a figure appearing in the passage above, if it were the only correction that needed to be made, would yield a new calculation showing that even incomes below the median family income would enable families in Millington to afford Millington’s median-priced house? (A) Millington’s total population was 45,000 people. (B) Millington’s median annual family income was $27,000. © Millington’s median-priced house cost $80,000. (D) The rate at which people in Millington had to pay mortgage interest was only 10 percent. (E) Families in Millington could only afford to pay up to 22 percent of their annual income for housing. Can someone help me with above and explain how to solve questions like these?
