hey thanks everybody. yes ish w/o aid i cant go.just cant afford to study on my own in the US

Thanks Sreeram and Bilash. yes Shreeram I have received the admission letter from the Grad Office by snail mail. But it only mentioned the prof who is interested in being my advisr and that I am being "considered" for aid. On contacting the dept as well s the concerned faculty I ws told that aid decisions havent been made yet. So the situation appears to be a bit dicey. Chances for admission to MS/PhD in ME Hi I am applying for MS+PhD in Mechanical Engineering to the following universities : Stanford Princeton OSU UTA Purdue UMich GaTech CMU Caltech UCLA My profile is: GRE: 1430(800Q,630V) AWA: 5.5 TOEFL: 290 GPA: 8.6/10 (Topper 9.2) Undergraduate school: Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi Recos: excellent Projects: relevant to my field: CAD/CAM Research papers: 1(Journal) Current status Admits: CMU( PhD in MEMS ). OSU(MS) Rejects: Princeton What are my chances of getting into the other schools that I mentioned above? Thanks in advance for replying.

moo..thanks for the early reply. in my offer letter, I was told tha tI am being considered for financial aid and tha ta certain professsor wants to be my advisor...but when I contacted the admissions office I was told that financial aid decisions havent been made yet..Do PhD candidates always get some kind of assistantship?
