I e-mailed the grad secretary on Friday and was told my application was still under consideration (Ph.D. program) and to check back early next week. Maybe that means I'm waitlisted?

yeah - in at Davis, UMD, U Washington and U Colorado. Waitlisted for funding at Davis and U Wash, TA offer w/full tuition waiver at Colorado. Still waiting to hear from NYU and UVA. I'm inclined to accept at Colorado, but don't want to do so until I have the final word on the others.

Thanks vagabond shoes - I know it's gonna be a reject, but I'd like to get the official word to put my mind at ease, nd I'm getting impatient.

For those of you who emailed the department for admission status, who did you email?

jazzcon, who exactly did you e-mail? I e-mailed the graduate program secretary, Rachel Mocny, a couple of days ago, but still no reply.

The snail-mail letter was a single page, signed by the acting dean of the grad school (or something like that). Pretty generic - "congratulations, you've been admitted to the grad school for the autumn quarter", etc. The email was from the econ department, I got it about 5 pm eastern time on the same day as the letter.

I got an e-mail a couple of hours after the snail mail. Regarding funding they said I was "very high on the alternates list for funding." Not holding my breath though.

Yeah, I was planning on doing that if I hadn't heard anything by later this week. Heck, I live only an hour away, I just might drive over and show up in their office!

I still haven't heard jack from UVA - not sure what to make of it.

I got an admit today, 3/20, via snail mail. The letter was from the grad school, not the department, with no word on funding. I also got that "teaser" email a few days ago and it freaked me out a bit.

I am still waiting as well (as of 3/15, 2:30 eastern time)

I was not offered funding, so I'm not going, even though I live just a couple of hours away.
