Got admission from EE @ Stanford last week, however, without financial aid. I apply for their PhD program, and I am a master student at Univ. of Florida. I am doing medical imaging and signal processing. As anybody else, they told me the financial aid decision will come by April 15. However I don't have much hope in this. The tuition & living takes 55000$/year, really expensive. Plus, I am an international student, no possibility for loans or so.
Another Ad from BEM @ U of Michigan, this one gives me fellowship in the first year. Still, I like Stanford, for many reasons (rank 1 in EE, silicon valley, my cousin there~~~) But I am afraid I'll be starved or indebted if I went there:hmm:
Any good suggestions? Really hard to choose. Thanks everybody.
Someone asked my profile, and I'd like to share them
MS student, GRE: 620+800+4.5, TOEFL: 277, 5+ journal pubulications, 1 best paper award. No powerful recommendation letter. GPA 3.90/4.00 for undergraduate, and 4.0/4.0 for master.
Well, it really hard to choose which one to go~~ I've visited U Mich, it's a nice place although a little bit cold. The professors there are nice. With financial aid, no worry about tuition and living cost.
However, personally I love stanford more. ... Stanford is Stanford. The dream for every electrical engineer. It seems to send out a lot of admissions this year without financial aid? It is so expensive in the Bay area...not sure about getting financial aid in the future. Write emails to the professors, and they told me they have no money now. ~~~ My family can possibly support me for the first year. But after that....I am worried. Come on, buddies, share me a piece of your mind. Thanks. :p
