  1. I think the number of attempts should not matter. The admission committee knows that there are brilliant students out there who are not good test takers. If your other areas compensate well, no of attempts should not matter. I heard that having the right math courses is critical in business schools, specially on the techical areas like operations and IT. Also some schools prefer GRE over GMAT for a Ph.D in business.
  2. my gre V:580, Q690, AW: 6 I am going to rewrite my GRE, after doing my math classes as I need practise with speed in solving problems regularly. I am just not fast enough and ran out of time by 19th question. For verbal and analytical writing I did not prepare at all. Need to work on the verbal side.
  3. HI folks.. Please Advice.....:( Am I missing something....I should work on.
  4. HI I have been reading this forum for a few days. Would greatly appriciate for any feedback on my profile and suggestions. I had applied for Ph.D programs in IT management in some business schools and interdisciplinary programs. But got dismal rejects.I do not have a good math background but, 4.5 year work experience in a top consulting firm in IT area, 6 CS courses from uiuc-I have two A grades and 4 B grades, the latter because my sibling died in an accident and it was very hard for me to perfrom well for a couple of semesters. So I want to improve for reapplying by taking some courses. Calculus from I -III, Linear Algebra, Algorithms Design and Analysis, Descrete Math for CS. Here is my profile. I would really appreciate some feed back to improve myself. I am a permanent resident in the US 4.5 years work experience with Big 5 consulting firm in implementing IT soultions. 1.5 year Ph.D at uiuc. GPA 3.55 Area: Implementing IT in developing economies..from Education Policy studies department. I had to leave the program as a sibling died in an accident and I wanted to make sure my parents recover from it. Masters in Education from Harvard University. GPA. 3.5. Area: Research Methods (statistics and Policy) My gpa is not on the high end, because I took three very difficult courses intended for Ph.D students and where only 2 or 3 people are given an A in the class. I took more for enhancing my knowledge rather than taking saftey classes where I know I can make an A grade. I did not talk about my grades in my SOP. Masters in Education. GPA 3.8 From University of Pennsylvania. Well I did this masters while trying to save money for my harvard admit that I had deferred for following year. BA. Triple Major: Political science, English and Education. Minors: General science from a top School overseas and I got the best graduating student award. But I don't know if the adcom knows that this is a top school in my area.
  5. Yes, A Forum for PhD in business would help termendously. The admission process is very different from MBA's. By all means it deserves a seperate stream.
