Count me in too. Have heard a few UCI ICS MS admits though! Has anyone heard UCI ICS MS or PhD rejects? Admit is being informed via e-mail with a PDF attachment; any idea how do they inform of rejects?

Hi All, My profile GRE - 1290 (V490, Q800, AWA-5.0) TOEFL - 283 (TWE-6.0) Undergrad GPA: 65% overall 8-sem average (Mumbai Univ; topper ~ 74%); no backlogs Recos: 2 stellar (1 from IIT scientist says me in top 3%-5%), Reco from CS HOD says top 25% http://www.edulix.com/forum/images/smiles/icon_sad.gif Papers: 7 papers totally; none published but all presented in conferences and paper contests in Company Presentations (teaching exp): more than 7; have trained 100+ new comers Projects: total of 12; 4 of them are most credible; involved in development of a new file transfer protocol, SIP-T and H.248 (VoIP) protocol stack development, Image processing internship at IIT-Bombay Others: Authored 2 reference guides on Java and Solaris (not published but for use withing design teams) Work experience: 5.5 years in VoIP, computer telephony, EMS/NMS; Current Position: Tech. Lead My admit/rejects Admits:UCSC (CS PhD),ASU (CS PhD),IUB (CS MS),U-Cinn (CS PhD) Rejects:SUNY-SB (CS MS),UIC (CS MS),UTAH (CS MS),Drexel (CS PhD) Waiting:U-Pitt,UCI Looking at my admits/rejects, I feel I have apped to many similar ranked univ (e.g. IUB, ASU, UoUTAH) and could have apped to at least 1 or 2 higher ranked univ. I either intend to seek a transfer after my 1st sem or intend to apply for Spring 2007; which one of them do you think I should apply and why: - University of Maryland, College Park - University of Mass, Amherst, - University of Michigan, Ann Arbor - Columbia University - University of California, Santa Barbara - University of Minnesota, Twin Cities Also, what do you think of transfers ... are they tough, would you suggest me opting for doing this? What opinion do you have about my this decision. Last but not the least, which ones of these do you think I should finally choose from. I would like to inform you that money ain't any problem for me, I can shell out for at least 2 semesters without any pain. What I am looking for is: general CS dept ranking and reputation, job prospects, research potential of the CS dept in Computer Networks and Operating Systems areas. - UCSC (no aid) - ASU (aid under consideration) - U Cincinnati (full aid with TA) - IUB ($2000 one time waiver) My interests lie in Computer Networks and Operating Systems and the only one admit that can change my decision is from UCI ICS, if at all it comes my way.
