  1. i just sent u a request to be added to the group.. havent had a chance to look at the files yet... but it wuld be good to put a few STICKY's pointing back to TM for the best debriefs - the ones with a lot of information...
  2. I have one word for this, which all Indians will understand: JHAAAAKAASS !!! Gr8 improvement dileep, inspiring !!!
  3. gr8 news Piyush..... Gentlemen, btw...would appreciate your feedback on what to do now. One of the first deadlines is on 12th Oct. Now if I give my 2nd attempt at the GMAT on say the 31st of Aug or so, do you seriously think I will do justice to the essays??? Have posted this on my debrief as well... http://www.www.urch.com/forums/just-finished-my-gmat/49817-620-q43-71-v34-72-my-gmat-experience-3.html

  6. Now that I am planning to regive by end of august, would appreciate suggestions on materials. I have gone thru both test on GMATprep, what do you guys suggest as Computer Adaptive Tests, that I can use now to measure my progress? Would also appreciate advice on other material as well.
  7. just wanted to let u all know...scored 6.0 on the AWA.... hope they read only this part of the score report. I was asked strategies for AWA of 6.0, so here goes. I used tictaktoe's template and modified it to what i found easy. Strategy for AWA: - Memorize the template and write it after reading the question. The template has a good enough level of english, so this should get the juices flowing. - Make points and present them. - Ensure you revisit the template and ensure it is in synch with the points mentioned. Remember, the template isnt a one size fits all solution, so you need to customize it to what you find easy and fit appropriate points from the question into the template. For example: if the question is .... Point A, but Point B. and you agree with Point B, then plug it in the appropriate place within the template. Dont mix the points.
  8. from the feedback i have been getting + all the reading of various sites + being from the Indian IT pool..the decision about whether I should give a shot again or not, has already been made!!! August, better be a good month for me :D
  9. logged onto TM after a brief sabbatical.... was great to see soo many encouraging replies!!! motivated to take a crack at it again...thnx guys!! will keep u all posted on this saga...stay tuned.....
  10. Practice Test: Kaplan - 570 - Beginning of prep in March GP1 - 590 - Before Restart of Prep GP2 - 640 - 4 days before G-day
  11. A 3 week journey from 570 to 620... Well after I saw the score I was pretty disappointed and was wondering if this deserved a debrief, that is when I thought to myself, that I could help my fellow TMians by telling them what NOT to do, rather than what to do. :) In case you are looking for a "WHAT should I do to great an above 700 score debrief", you can stop reading here and read the following debriefs: - Ursula, twinsplitter, tictaktoe, jjaacc and countless others. In case you are looking for a "WHAT NOT to do debrief", then I guess you can read on.... GMAT Prep: I started my prep in March and ended it in March. Then again this last week I took a "study leave" from office to catch up on my GMAT prep as work + GMAT was not a good mix for me. There are others in the forum, who have been able to juggle work + GMAT much better. Mistakes I made: 1) Did not realise the importance of continuous GMAT prep. I thought I would do well, but by the time I realised my "assumption" was wrong, it was too late. 2) Did not define a CUT OFF date, post which I would not bother collecting new material. [This was hampered that I found TM only in May] 3) Did not find TM earlier. :) 4) Didnt get serious soon enough. Advice on Prep: - If you have found TM 3-4 months before your actual G-day, take 2 days off from office or spend the weekend solely on TM debriefs. Go thru them in those 2 days and you will be motivated enough to understand the importance of dedication, perseverance and defining a schedule. When you read Ursula's debrief, you can easily understand the benefits of reviewing your mistakes and keeping a track of them using her beautiful excel. - There is only so much material, that you really need, collect it from the debriefs, I have mentioned and then dedicate your time to practice rather than scourging the internet for silly things. GMAT Experience For those giving their GMAT in Mumbai, the Pearson centre is brightly light, has white walls and has black LCD monitors. The erasable markers provided are the black ones shown here: http://www.artstuff.net/staedtler_non-permanent_lumocolor_fine_markers.htm Advice: Keep the pen's standing on their cap, when you go for your breaks. The ink flows better. The staff is friendly, and they will help you to your "cubicle". During the GMAT, I thot AWA was a breeze, but that is irrelevant anyways. Quant was "nice", but then the score reflects, why it was nice. There was an interesting question about a geometric shape, but due to my agreement, I can disclose much. I think I got it wrong, after which the test settled to its own pace. Verbal according to me was quite sedated, and again the scores reflect, why. ------------------------ Currently, I am too tired to write anything more, just raring to get back to office tomorrow. Will try and get in touch with a few admissions counsellers, in order to get a better perspective on the "to regive or not to regive" question. You are definately invited to provide your suggestions. ------------------------ TM is an amazing place, if you are reading this, it means you took the first right step towards your MBA dream. I made quite a few frnds on TM in my short time onboard, like "tictaktoe", "jjaacc", "dileepsh" and "manish8109". Am waiting for my man manish to post his GMAT score, that is something we all should watch out for. Best of luck to all. Will linger around TM for a while. Post me any queries, will try to answer em.
  12. This is to do with being idiomatic and parallel as well. Choice E is both, hence it is the OA
  13. yup...essays are a very critical component... i know a frnd of mine who got all rejects at 730...whereas others got admitted with scores of 700, 710... so i guess a cracking score is nothing than a "door opener", the essay and other things, help get your foot in.
