  1. Nasir, I got the scores online in exactly 3 weeks. This policy is also stated on the ETS website. I got the paper copy around 1 week after my online results. Salipan, I am an Indian. I have been speaking english for as long as I can remember now. SO i really didnt have to practice for it.
  2. GMAT was 730 [Q48 V41]. CTG, I'm afraid I really cant write a detailed debriefing, as I really didnt prepare for this exam. But have heard that the ETS official guide is good enough if your basic English command is good. Since you already have an excellent GMAT score, you have the required writing/reading skills. If you watch English movies [without the subtitles :)] , then your listening will also be upto par. Speaking is something, I believe, that cant be improved in a short timeframe anyways. Just speak at a normal , consistent pace and dont worry about not completing your replies in the given 45 seconds. I didnt complete 2 of my replies and managed a 30 on 30 !! Just make sure to respond in a structured manner. Also the accent should not matter much as the exam is anyways meant for international students. Just dont let it be so heavy that no one understands you when you speak :) Otherwise the center was very crowded. I gave the exam from 7:30 to 11:30 PM. So I was afraid that I shouldnt fall asleep !! But the time flies by, so its cool. Hope this helps.
  3. Relieved. Thats all I can say. I have always thought that this test is a bit unfair. I mean just 40 seconds to gather your thoughts and speak them out seems too tough. By the way, didnt study for this exam at all. Had given the GMAT around 2 months back, so carried that experience over. For listening and speaking, I guess all those years of watching American movies helped :)) I wish you all, the best of luck for the exam. YEAAAA !!!
  4. http://www.manhattangmat.com/store2.cfm choose the online category in the dropdown.
  5. The scores on Manhattan GMATs: 630 [was a bit zapped by verbal here], 700 and 750.. I would rate it very close to the GMATPrep.
  6. Shweta/Sudheer, I accessed the Manhattan GMAT test series and their SC question bank directly from their website. The SC bank is for $3 and the Test series for 24$ i think. I did not have time to buy their books and refer those , so i cant comment on the study material itself. But the explanations in the question bank and the level of questions in the test series were very realistic and helpful. After my poor performance in their SC bank, I did not look at the explanations immed. Instead I went back to the OG and tried to review the concepts aong with a Kaplan 800 SC review. I performed much better on the 2 nd pass with around 17 out of 25. I went through the explanations after this. That really helped. I do believe that this access comes along with their books too. So if you have already purchased their material, you may already have access to these online tests too. gschmilinsky, While solving the quant I got this feeling that there were just too many of the prime no./inequality/factors kind of DS questions. And also that there too many of them in a row at the beginning of the test. The test seemed to ease up at the end with much simpler DS on sets. I felt that I did not get enough of the direct problems to solve. And also , I did not have enough time for the last 5 q's, So i'll probably never know their difficulty level.
  7. Thanks! The RC could be classified as easy. Got 4 passages. 3 of them were real short ones and the 4th medium. SC and CR were OG level. Medium and Hard bin I would say. But do take the Manhaan GMAT SC question bank if you can. It really helps. The Kaplan verbal is not great, but the Kaplan 800 book is good and merits a once over.
  8. Hi everyone..This happens to be my first post here. I found this forum in May and enjoyed reading the debriefings of various members. I am just happy to say that I am able to give my debriefing here today :D I started studying for GMAT in mid-April. Started off with the whole range of Kaplan books. Finished the Kaplan Premier Edition, the Math/Verbal supplements by April-End and then took the first Kaplan Online test with a score of 690. Then the 1st GMATPrep , which yielded 700. By now, I knew that my problem areas were SC and DS. I bought the OG 11th Edition and its Quant supplement. Went through the SC thoroughly and the DS portion. The 2nd GMATPrep yielded 710 and I knew that my SC was not upto mark yet. So I took the online Manhattan GMAT question Bank test. That was an eye opener. I got 8 out of 25 in that test. I started off on a regimen of Kaplan CD tests on the weekends and retakes of the GMATPrep [re-installs]. I paid particular attention to the verbal section, especially the SC. I ended up taking 17 full length tests in all in the 6 weeks! [4 Kaplan CDs, 1 Kaplan Online, 3 Manhattan GMAT online, 6 GMATPrep, 2 PowerPrep.]. I feel this helped me build up my stamina.. The Kaplan tests were the toughest and I think a little unrealistic. Especially in the verbal section. The RC passages were out of this world! My first Kaplan CD saw 570... I found the Manhatan GMAT full length tests to be the closest to the real thing. And their verbal is just great... Well..Anyways, on the real test day, I arrived an hour early at the center. I was allowed to start almost immediately. The AWA was easy. Its good that we have the AWA at the start. Helps to calm the nerves. I did not utilize the break and started straight with the Quants section. The Quant started off with a never-before seen question abt graphs, but an easy one. I firmly believe that the 2nd question was a misprint. It cost me 5 min and I figured that the diagram was not drawn correctly [angles marked incorrectly]. That threw me off and I ended up guessing the last 5 q's in 1 minute:mad: . Also, not 1 statistics problem. I mean nothing at all. It was almost purely Number properties. I did not utilize the break after the quant. I was a little pissed at the quant section. So when I got the pop-up to take the break, I just sat there for a minute and took a couple of deep breaths. I decided that possibly the quant had not gone that badly, and that if I kept my head in the verbal I might get a good score. The Verbal was pretty standard stuff. No long RCs. So that was good. Clicked on the followup screens..And was ecstatic to see the 730 pop up.. Called up my wife as soon as I got back to the lockers..:D Uno Chicago Grill after that.. I did not have any special techniques or anything. I just simply tried to make sure that I did not have more than 15 questions left for the last 25 min [didnt work in the quant section though:hmm: ] If you are still here with me...All the best in case you are planning to appear for the test anytime in the future.. Well, all this will count only if I am able to convert it into a Business School admit..So now the final charge onward begins !:grad:
