  4. YepIhategre: Thanks a lot for sharing your experience. I have a few questions for you. Did you do all BB exams? I almost hate the Nova book. NOVA burned me. I don't want to open NOVA again. If I study Barron, GRE/GMAT math book from Kaplan, ETS 10th edition, and PP, would they be enough? Your suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
  5. Pujols: I share your sentiment. I was scheduled to take the exam on Nov. 20th, but decided to take it next year for the following reasons. I took two PP exams right before the exam date and scored 580, 490 on math. I am very disappointed with my study because I have been practicing math for more than six months. I feel like I don't have the mental capacity to understand math. In any case, I am taking a break for a month. Once I resume studying, I will do math for about three months part-time bases. I will study from Barron, ETS 10th edition, DI from BB and PP. In conclusion, I have failed to a score greater than 650, but I am not a failure. I am determined to reach my goal. You can you.

    GRE Impasse

I am scheduled to take the GRE on November 20th. I took three PP tests and received 590, 600 and 620 on verbal. But, Math has been a problematic section for me. I have never obtained a score greater than 550. However, I need to score at least 600 on math. Here is the question: I want to take the exam but cancel the score. How is it done? What are the ramifications? Will it be counted as if I have taken the exam. Your suggestions are extremely important.
  9. First, You may not be able to take the GRE exam with current format starting September. If I were you, I would prepare for the next exam. Start reading a lot. Learn additional words. Eventhough, new format is not going to include analogy and antonyms, SC will require you to know lots of words. For math, I am not the right person to advice anyone.

  12. A friend of mine got accepted to Carnegie Mellon University's Ph.D program with 730Q and 530V. I think your scores are fine.
  13. In addition to learing words, read, read and read literature, good newspaper or whatever you like to read. Concurrently, you should start do math problems.
  14. Most top universities in US require verbal score greater than 500. Occasionally, they accept students with lower score. If your goal is to get into a top university, retake the exam. Please be mindful that it is much easier to get a job after graduation if you graduate from a top PhD program.
