I, Himanshu is from gurgaon and also planning to give subject GRE..but this time its really very hard to study and atleast master few topics of the whole course... as far as seats are concerned in delhi I don't think it would not be the case that seats would be fully filled coz I feel there are very less people who give this exam and we could apply around the last dates of application too.... by the way what ur preps are up to...coz looking at the syllabus & especially going thru the books of TOC and algo I am having a very sinking feeling... what's ur email id...we can have more conversations regarding the various issues

Hi friends, I am Himanshu from Non CS stream currently working in Gurgaon in S/W industry. I have just started my preparation and was about to give subGRE in nov but preps wouldn't reach to substantial level to give this xam in nov I am planning to give this xam in Dec in Bangladesh. In the meantime of a month i will take leave from my office will probably get enough time to make some good score What u all think that moving to Bangladesh and giveing this xam will be worth making move or will it not create much difference As i have just started my preparation it would be nearly impossible to give sub GRE in Nov. What u all say.. all suggestions are appreciated

Hi frnds, I am preparing for 4 Nov subject GRE. As i am from non CS background and trying to put myself in Theory portion of Subject GRE test which include Theory of Computation , Automata Theory and Discrete mathematics and yes compiler design. I will start dabbling with these topics from next week could these be completed in two months if devoting 5-6 hours approximately every day.. what u say or is it Herculean task coz one of my frnd suggested me that it takes more than 6 months to get command over these topics, making me a bit nervous , putting my enthusiam for test down.. I would appreciate ur realistic views over this query so that I could plan accordingly

thanks buddy for ur suggestions...the most important thing that I get out of this conversation is that 700 score would be not be good enough to get some university like Columbia with aid actually I quoted the eg. of columbia university coz a friend of mine with same credentials (in fact a bit less) with no such good experience that I atleast possesses. On the other hand Kaykay a member of Urch from Non CS background is able to grab Columbia with full aid Hey can u tell me how much score would made 50 %tile in sub gre

Hi Calmlogic, thanks for ur reply, But as I come to know from ur previous replies that u have taken subject GRE sometime before too, and about to give it in december. What was the overall period difference in the two tests. With the constraints attached to me like will be applying for Computer Science for fall 2007 I need to give it in November, Secondly why I am planning to give it in April that say I get the score of something around 690 or 700 then still I can apply with this score to universities(Though wouldn't help much to get topnotch university but could fetch admission from NCSU or Columbia in Computers. And I feel it would be good achievement for Non CS background student to get that with 2 month prep) Now giving it again in April will help like if I score in range of 750 or above then I could join university and then apply for transfer to better grade college with my second GRE score) What u say is this plan quixotic or well laid. But if I directly plan it in April what would happen is niether I will be touch with prep nor I come to know the exact depth of the exam. What topics have u read till now reply soon

Hi all I am non CS student and planning to give sub GRE for CS on Nov 2. As I am not left with much time to study all things I am just trying to go through few topics viz operating systems, discrete & data structures. If score would not be as per xpectation (that would probably take place) then I will give the sub GRE in April in Nepal again. The only help that I could get from Nov GRE that I would be able to access my self and will know the pattern of test.... What u all thinks Is giving AGRE in nov worthwhile or should I give it in April direct Will universities will take the latest score or just first test All suggestions r appreciated

I m a neo in comp. field but feel some bug make me to give sub gre so that I could reach some Ivy league:grad: , yeah I am not sharing here just my dream but i believe its ur too.. neway, lets nyone who's neocomputer or computer veteran can tell about their prep and the way they r doing it..Actually this could help us in meeting the local people who wuld be in same town & could collectively study too... Why don't we start from throwing questions which culd help us all so let's begin with.. as I'm planning to give sub gre in nov or in april from Singapore or Nepal all the very best

hi dear,,, as such there r no books defined for AGRE with I would say u can definitely make some way out to get Brilliant tutorials notes which helps a lot

Ur doubt is worth to think about but as far as I know there were many cases who joined for Phd courses and finally left after completing MS but it depends on ur advisor and the reason u put towards....as I know 2 pals who provided the reason of bad health for not able to convert their MS in PHd. But once again u require some factual proofs for justification, but dear the best thing with Phd is that person gets really a good sum as schol and secondly u only require to invest 3 years for Phd...extra which generally takes 5 years... So its worth thinking to become DR....

:grad: I have been to different groups but never been to such a group where I could share info from beggining of GRE to appearing for Visa! Any way I have GRE score as 1480/1600 and planning to give Subject gRe (CS) (i would say planning as i am from non CS background & still not able to begin it);) :whistle: anyway feeling good to here
