  1. Anyone know how competitive admissions are at schools like Duke's Nicholas School of the Environment, Michigan's School of Natural Resources and Environment, or Colorado's Environmental Studies program? I'm specifically asking about their Masters level degrees in Policy or Sustainable Systems. Anecdotal experiences or stats are very appreciated. Thanks, Chapman
  2. bump... (i'm enjoying this thread)
  3. Hi, Do you guys think Duke's Master of Environmental Management with a focus on Environmental Economics and Policy would be good preparation for an eventual PhD in Environ Econ? It is marketed as a professional degree but its curriculum allows for significant customization. Opinions? Thanks.
  4. I did an internship at Chicago Fed while in undergrad. There were 38 interns. Mostly undergrads but there were several grad students as well. Also, while mostly Northwestern and Chicago students, there were also several from places like Stanford and Wharton. So, it may be worth your time to look into. PM me if you have any quesitons.
  5. Unfortunately, I haven't had calculus or an econ class in quite some time (4+ years). I'm actually going to take calculus again at the same time I potentially take this class. So, I'm not sure I still have the math background to take this class. I plan to check out those books to see just how advanced they are. Again, advice appreciated.
  6. Hello, I am currently an MS Finance student but have the option of taking Applied Microeconomic Analysis as an elective. This class is taught as our econ program's master's level Microecon course. I've taken Prin. of Micro back in undergrad and performed well but I'm worried this class may be too advanced. It's taught from the following books: Robert H. Frank, Microeconomics and Behavior Walter Nicholson, Microeconomic Theory: Basic Principles and Extensions Do you guys suggest taking this class or staying away from the master's level Econ classes at this point? Thanks in advance for your advice... Thanks.
  7. Hi, I'm considering an MA in Econ as prep for a PhD program. Do you guys think it's worth the cost to attend Vanderbilt's MA program over a state school's MA program (I'm specifically thinking of Georgia State's program but I think this question applies to state schools in general)? I'm not sure the academic rigor and school reputation is quite high enough over the large state schools to warrant the higher cost (4X as much...). What's your opinion? Thanks.
  8. Are there any reputable MA Econ programs that allow spring entry to the program?
