For calculating average height of 'n' people , what we require is the value of 'n' & sum of height of 'n' people. the 2nd statement mentioned the sum of height of 'n' people but actual value of 'n' cannot be determined by using either or both of the statement. there fore last answer will be the right one.

You r right the answer is 40. as 7x/8-3x/4=5, x/8=5, x=40.

The answer will be "a" as correctly explain by hitzs because out of 9 places last three places ie 7,8 & 9 are not going to get any point as condition specify i.e 1=6.
