Hi, My name is Ahmed , Egyptian pharmacist , graduated in 2006 and was thinking seriously of going through that FPGEE journey hoping to get registered in the US and to practice Pharmacy there. I kept thinking seriously for weeks and months and I was about to send my documents to the ECE but I shifted to the Australian APEC at last and I passed it and currently waiting for my visa. My reasons were that many friends told me about the difficulties to find a sponsor to sponsor your H1B visa to come to the US ( coz I am niether a citizen nor a green card holder ). I know some friends who cleared the FPGEE in 2003 and didn't find a sponsor till now! Did I shift to the right way from ur point of view? I have always dreamed of coming to the US . I always had that American dream in my mind and I will never hesitate to come to America whenever I have the chance to do so . The questions I am asking: 1-Is pharmacy in America worth those speed bumps and hurdles we are facing to get there ( tickets to America , ECE evaluation , FPGEE fees , a lot of studying, etc )? 2-Are there really a lot of internship vacancies available there and is it really difficult to get a sponsor? 3-Do I have to think again of doing that FPGEE equivalency exams and start the journey from the very begining? or concentrate on Australian registration instead as the benefits are the same in both countries? I am sorry to bother yowith my story but I am absolutely sure that you will give me yo advice from your point of views because I believe that sharing ideas is the right way to take the right decision. I finally wrote my academic IELTS Today , 24/5/07 . To be honest , It is not that easy and not that hard . I think it is a bit easier than those practice tests of cambridge .. The only thing I was disatisfied with was the reading section , it was very long and I did not manage to answer the last question .. so one is wrong now , how much else will come up wrong also from those I have answered ??? ahhh , I cannot think as I need a score of 7 .. pray for me guys .. Another thing I wanna ask u guys about is the speaking .. It went ok but I was a bit confused at part 3 where a stopped talking for a while and continued as it was difficult to find a quick answer to the question I was asked , so I just stopped for a while where I said mmm , ahhhh and that sort of words and continued .. Do u know to how the examiners judge this kind of mistakes ?? I mean do they take into consideration the anxiety most of us are suffering before and during sitting infront of the examiner ???? Pls. those of u whose results are out or who knows tell me ... how it went with them and what was the results ??? Any of who have an idea , pls share Wishing u all the very best of luck Cheers

I am going for FPGEE in JUNE07 or may be even in DEC07 .... It all depends on how my studying will be going .. I just wanted to wish all of u who will be writting this FPGEE soon the very best of luck ... Honestly I will be praying for u all ... Hope ISA there will be no failers this DEC .... khadija , my dear , I know that my words may somehow be noisy but my advice to u is : Do not go for it FPGEE unless u are satisfied with ur studying or the efforts u spent on this whole FPGEE preparation ... I am telling u this coz my situation is the same as urs ... It will be hard for me again to afford for such a trip .... So , I will only take off when I seriously feel that I did all what I can do .... Think about it taking ur cicumstances into considerations and ISA God will guide u to the right decision ... I already started studying but I want to ask u khadija about the basics .. from where did u study it as u mentioned in ur post , pls. tell me ... Thanks Cherryfda I got ur point ....We adjust the dosing rate to maintain the amount needed to be given to the patient daily ... Then Infusion = elimination after 6.77 half lives as Conc. in blood was increasing , so we give a loading dose instead to avoid waiting .... Ur Explanation was great , Thanks alot my dear friend .... In IV infusion therapy , Absorption is faster than elimination initially till we reach the Css after which they are both equal ,so the graph gives a plateau ..... Do we adjust the rate at first so that Absorption is more than elimination then adjust it again after reaching Css or we adjust a single rate from the begining and it goeas by itself ... I am a bit confused here ... Another thing , to reach Css quickly , we give a loading dose .... If this is the case , then how in controlled release dosage forms the concentration reaches Css from the first time .... I mean in SR , we give one tablet or whatever which release constant quantity of drug per a fixed time ... then How we reach Css here .... Arent we supposed also to give a loading dose (normal dosage forms) then continue with SR forms ....

I did memorize the main ones like the Reaction orders (zero and first) , t half , Css .... But there are many others as I said which seem to be very difficult to memorize .... Congrat for passing this FPGEE thing .... Can u tell me what did u do exactly 4 it .... what did u study exactly .... what was ur source .... and what was ur studying plan ( For how long , how many hours per day , ....etc)

Guys ,... I am very confused now .... what must I do I just started to study CPR .... Do I quit it and start Katzung from the begining or carry on with CPR ... Some say Katzung is the key and others say CPR only (nothing more) .... what should I do guys ..... I mean isnt CPR covering everything thoroughly ... Other thing , I dont understand what exactly are the basics u r discussing .... Regards
