  1. Thanks for answer. So to calculare scaled score all i need to do is to simply convert raw score? eg. 34/39 = 87% -> 87% * 30 = 26 ? You say that sample test is easier... do you mean test on ets.org site? I have been using kaplan ibt so I dont know if it is easier or not... Few more questions: -if question is worth more than one poing (eg 5) what if I answer partially correct (eg. 6 correct choices from 7) - do i get 0 pts or partial score like 3-4? -is summary and chart question, doest answer order matter? and: Score will be posted online, so universities can view them. Is it ok when score is available online just before deadline, but printed reports reach schools after? Thanks for help
  2. Hi, I have several questions, if someone know answer to one of them, then please post a reply. -How to convert raw scores into scaled? For example I have answered 34 questions correctly out of 39 in reading section, what is my score on 30 points scale? Is there a penalty for incorrect answer? Is there a penalty for no answer? In multiple-choice questions (where you can select more than one answer) can there be a question where to answer correctly you must: -select exactly one choice? -select no choices? -select all choices? in other words: in questions where you can select more than one choice, typically correct answer will consists of 2 or 3 choices, but can I assume that: -I must always select more than one choice to answer correctly? -Selecting all choices is always incorrect? Thanks
  3. Hi guys, The main assumption in my reasoning is: question weight is depent ONLY on its number, so for example 10th question is always worth X points, no matter how you answered previous questions. If this assumption is correct we may determine question weight by 1) anwering this and all earlier questions correctly, and rest incorretly, 2) anwering all earlier questions correctly, this and rest incorretly Information about question weight can of course affect strategy, because (as I have already said) if last 5 questions can change total score by only 20-30 points its best to guest them, and spend more time on earlier. If somebody can try to: answer first 15 questions correctly, then 15 incorrectly - save score. After that: first 14 correctly, last 16 incorrectly... this should give as weight of question 15...
  4. Hi, Thanks for answers. I think that it is possible to determine weight (amount of points) of each question... I understand that GRE CAT works in this way: let say you have answered first 5 questions correctly. your current score is hmm.. let say 650. If you answer next question correctly the score will be 650 + x, if incorrectly, then 650 - x. So x is the weigth of sixth question. I think that this doesn't vary from test to test. If I am right then one way to determine weights is to take gre powerprep test several times, and try for given X = 5,6,7, whatever, to answer first X questions correctly, rest incorrectly first X questions incorrectly, and rest correctly This is tedious and time consuming, but if we know how many point is each question worth, then we can determine how important last five (or other number) questions are. If for example answering last 5 questions incorrectly is going to lower your score by only 20-30 points, then we can ignore them and spend more time on first 25... Any comments on this?
  5. Could someone explain how exactly GRE CAT scoring algorithm works (in verbal section)? One explanation can be found here, but i need more details: http://www.allthetests.com/gre_intro/cat_scoring_detail.shtml Your initial score is 500 and when you answer first question it goes up or down and so on. As test progress questions are less and less important to your final score For example: 1 question: 100pts 2 question: 80pts 3 question: 60pts so if you answer 1 and 3 correct and 2 wrong score will be: 500 + 100 - 80 + 60 = 580 But how many points is first question worth? and second ... and last? What score would i get if I answer first 10 questions correct and 20 wrong what first 10 wrong and remaning 20 correct? Can someone explain this?
