Thannk you Fedup for your reply. I am an international student but i attend U of Minnesota since freshman year. I assume I do not need to take TOEFL. I am still trying working on my verbal and will take GRE for a second time. your recommendations seem very encouraging, however when i talk to some professors over here, they said i should apply MS for every school and i will have a hard time to get in to school like UCLA, USC. (not sure what they mean, maybe in the case of w/ funding)i guess they didn't like my GPA that much, if any school has a cut off of 3.5 then i will have bad luck. your list seems to show that i should have a good chance to some of those schools. it is not supposed to be that easy, right? the best admission i can expect is from UCLA, like to go there but it's very tough. thanks again.

hello all~ I have been to this forum and has been looking around for a while, so i decided to post this and ask your valuable opinions. My profile here: GPA 3.4/4.0:yuck:, Uni. of Minnesota, Twin Cities GRE:Verbal: 340:yuck: Math:800;) One undergraduate research project :rolleyes:(to bad no paper out of it) i want to go to CA, so which schools should I apply to? please recommend some for a try and some for safety school. if there is any. and BTW, do i have a bette chance to get in for MS or PHD? (personally, i don't really want to get into the phd, but since some school just downgrade you to MS when you apply for PHD, is that a better way to go?) thanks in advance for your time and reply.
