  1. Wow, talk about random. In at MIT and out at Columbia and possibly UCLA and Maryland. Well, I doubt you mind, you can only attend one program, and MIT is about as good as they come.
  2. No I did not. I asked, "so if you didnt get an email you didnt get an admit?" SHe said yes. Though I did not ask, so that could be. I have already given up hope. Now it is Chicago v. Nwu for me.
  3. Sorry to sadden the mood, but I just called the grad secretary. If you did not get an email, then you did not get in. I too did not receive an email :( Congrats to those who did though.
  4. I do not think those guidelines are set in stone. I had a 4 on the AWA and got in with a fellowship...
  5. I called, admits will come out Monday. I asked her if you dont hear anything Monday, is that a bad sign? She strongly insinuated yes.
  6. I was also thinking about this, and I think one good program would be the masters in math program at NYU. The deadline for applications was very late, somewhere around May or June. It is also a very good place to study math, and it seems like there is some flexibility in course choice. Of course, you might need a bit of math to get accepted. I think Brookings and the CEA both do their hiring late. The Chicago fed also recently contacted me for an interview, so they may still be hiring too. As for the question of whether it is easy to take classes part-time as an RA, I think so. When I interviewed for a few RA positions they said this was common, and some even offer to pay.
  7. they didn't say anything about when. we do need to wait till they hear back from others. she did say that they have taken people from the wait list every year, so there is hope.
  8. I am in too, some more consolation for Yale
  9. For those of you still waiting, I called today and asked. There are 12 people on the waitlist (I am one of them). So to all in this thread, dont go to yale, I really hear the program has gone down hill :) Perhaps there is a glimmer of hope left for us.
  10. I think schools like UCLA, UMich, Maryland, WashU, Texas etc. are not out of your reach. Virginia should be very much in your range; their website says the average quant gre is a 750. Remember you are at an ivy, so it is ok if your writer says you are very good instead of the best he has ever seen (assuming you are not applying to top 5 schools). Oh, and if you could get a 790 or 800 you would be in much better shape. Being that you are able to get A grades in math classes at an ivy league school, I think that is very much a possibility. Just my thought...
  11. I think they want an intake of 2-4 a year, so they probably admit like 5-10, still a pretty good percentage for TM. I think they write that so they look even more competitive.
  12. Institution: NYU - Stern Program: Ph.D. Economics Decision: accepted Notification date: 2/23/08 Notified through: e-mail Funding: 24k
  13. Me too, 24k + health + tuition waiver. Some consolation for Yale. :)
  14. so, when you say more acceptances, you mean people will be put on the waitlist?
  15. Add me to the list of those in Yale purgatory. I dont have much hope. :(
