  1. Yes, they were. But one of them also taught at Yale and Cornell before. Other had some common publications with faculties there...
  2. Thanks. GRE: V:320 Q:800 A:3.5 GRE CS Subject: 840 TOEFL: 267 GPA: 4.80/5.00 2 yrs TAship at 2 departments only 1 yr of research and publication at a local conference Recommendations from theory professors who are probably well-known at Rutgers (I think this was the most important)
  3. That's my problem too. I know that Rutgers is better than NCSU, but those extra years... It wouldn't be problem if I could work, but living only from GA...
  4. Hi! I heard 7 and 10 yrs. One of my teachers also obtained her PhD (but in math, not in CS) at Rutgers and it took 8 years for her. Meet you in August at Rutgers! :) (or in August?)
  5. Hi! I got admit to TAMU, NCSU and Rutgers. I'm mainly interested in theory and data mining. I would choose Rutgers but I heard that it takes extremely long time to obtain PhD at Rutgers. What are your opinions? Please help me to decide! I have to make my decision by April 15. Thx
  6. Hi guys! I've just received the following: "Please note that the Graduate School has recently received a copy of your assistantship (award) letter from your department. We were able to use this award letter to clear your International financial requirements for admission and we are currently processing your I-20." I'm really happy but I haven't received that assistantship letter yet, so I don't even know the amount... It's pretty like the thing happened with TAMU when I received the congratulations from the International Student Services 2 days earlier than the official acceptance/offer from the department.
  7. Thx! I've already written an email and I was told, that financial aid decisions will only be made in late February or early March after the majority of the admissions decisions have been made. TOEFL CBT: 267 GRE: V:330, Q:800, AW:3.5 GRE CS Subject: 840 (91%) GPA: 4.80/5.00 2 yrs TA, 1 yr research and 1 publication at a really really small conference, a few national awards and scholarship.
  8. Hi! Today I received an email that I was granted full admissibility status but because I'm an international student I have to send financial documentation for the official admission to be granted. Does it mean that I wasn't awarded any aid? If not, till when shall I wait for the decision on the aids to be made? I don't have any funds so aid is my only chance. Thanks, Peter
  9. I think that your quantitative score is a bigger problem. If you look at cv-s of people attended to top universities almost everybody had 800 on it. Btw GRE and GPAs are only for prefiltering. If you have the minimal values, then your statement, research activities, recommendations, etc will be considered to make a decision...
  10. Today I could get my scores too. I have 840, 91%. I was a bit afraid, because I didn't answer at least 11 questions.
  11. As I know GRE scores are usually only used for deciding who worth further consideration (at least for PhD). Admission decisions can't be made only based on GRE scores, because at top universities most of the applicants has 800 for quantitative and more than 800 for subject, analytical and verbal sections are not so relevant, so MIT doesn't even require GRE tests. Final decisions are made based on your scientific activity, recommendations and statement of purpose.
  12. Everybody could get his scores by phone? I've just called ETS scores by phone, and I was told that my score is still not available and I should wait at least a week before calling again...
