  1. Are you sure about that? We're merely analyzing, you know? Does ETS really have to know about our thought-process?:)
  2. Blogger: Pray, why are we so ridiculous? Kickboxer: "People in India struggle with the quant section due to language deficiencies" err,EXCUSE me?Is blogger actually saying that? Isn't that a flippant comment to make by blogger2008,Ramin?

    its over-finally

    Congratulations,by the way! :)
  4. hey sridhar, They did not mention a percentile !!! i was pretty surprised too :hmm: I'm only in my 3rd year of engineering ,so hardly worried about admissions at the moment! I have a gut feeling that kickboxer is right too ! Good luck with the admissions process ! What is your major? Sona
  5. I second that actually! I may have had a bad day and let others not get too worked up about the quant section because of my irresponsible(!) comments! Sorry everyone, if it's got you worrying! I did not want that to happen for sure! Sona
  6. You know what? It actually does make sense :hmm: Mine was a CAT.i don't think there are any paper pencil versions allowed here as well.A couple of friends who knew i was taking the exam this early were wondering why i'm doin so ? They were even more surprised that i decided to take it here,at Madras. This city is like you said FULL of brilliant or rather should i say EXTREMELY HARD-WORKING students who would probably go for classes for a year and then take their GRE. So,that being the case,i am frankly not surprised that most of them do exceptionally well. So,yes. Your theory does sound plausible! Sona
  7. Hi Ramin, Just read your post! Sorry to have scared you so much! I am really sorry, that was NOT my intention. Kindly trust in yourself and keep working and i really think you should do just fine! :) Again, sorry to have made that post if it's made a worried person out of you! Peace, Sona
  8. Hi pumpkinSeed, I do feel lighter! I am applying only for FALL '09 so no applications as yet for me! I am actually a third year electrical engineering undergraduate student in India. PumpkinSeed,I'd actually suggest looking through a LOT of problems with terrible numbers and horrible calculations initially. Sorry to say,but there really is NO other way! In my opinion i had been more sedulous than i have EVER been ALL my life and YET i must admit that my quant score is WAY below my expectation. So,i'll say, only if you practice with horrible numbers that require LONG-WINDING calculation can you actually ensure that these things DON'T stump you on exam-day! I must have spent a LONG time on calculation and thereby lost crucial time later on which hurt my score i guess. When i had two minutes left,i had 8 questions to go  it was honestly a NIGHTMARE! DO NOT get yourself into such a situation and the only way i guess you can do that is to make uncomfortable numbers your new best friend! Sorry,am not able to write more now..was out all day yesterday and extremely tired because of that. More later, definitely ! Hope it helps! Sona
  9. I am located in Madras,India GRE_Kickboxer. And yes,i have heard the same too.Very strange,right?
  10. The data interpretation problems were awful to say the least. They made me wish i'd never chosen to write the exam.ETS had used prime numbers for percentages and the answer choices were extremely close. So no guessing was actually possible. The geometry was quite difficult. I had never seen such problems until today at least. And the sad truth is that while POWERPREP verbal can be compared to the actual GRE,the PP quant literally seems like child's play! Barrons verbal and GRE verbal are comparable. And the same holds good for Kaplan. However, though this does sound a little strange, none of the quant prac tests were AS difficult as the real GRE. This aspect seriously amazed me.I was expecting quant to be a zephyr(please let me use it :) ) and instead it was typhooon. I have ALWAYS scored above 1400 in all my prac tests. So this came as a shock.RUDE shock. And since i got my quant section first i guess my bad luck continued to run into my verbal section as well. However here's something interesting i heard. I heard that nobody who took the test from my center seems to have done well either. To give you an idea of how far-fetched i thought the paper was- i almost thought after answering 10 of those wonderful questions that ETS had doled out , if i MIGHT be answering a research section. That was how awkward i found the math portion. Hope this helps Thanks for everything GRE_Kickboxer! Sona
  11. GRE_Kickboxer, I agree with Jakir. You are truly a class apart. ALL the very best with your exam. I am SURE you WILL succeed. Cheers Sona
  12. I have now come to realise that there are a BILLION reasons why one can NOT do well on the GRE quant. One of them being ETS showering the most terrible questions upon a person.
  13. hey everyone, So that's the grand finale. And i'd never gotten anything below 750 in quant in any of my PP practice tests. The math was HARD. Seriously hard. A more detailed post later.I am simply too exhausted at the moment. I must say at the point though that i owe a lot of my score to TM. Thanks so much Erin,if you're reading this! And a special thanks to GRE_Kickboxer! Your posts honestly made me enjoy math even more than i usually do. Thanks a lot.If you have any specific questions, shoot! Sona
