Hi, guys. I think it is time to talk about our final decisions now. I choose Princeton over Stanford and Yale, because I will do international trade. How about you guys?
-
You are right. I hope my rejection for U Penn after the campus visit can help you.
-
Princeton dominates U Penn for sure. :) No offense. About the faculty movement, you can ask faculty members in the visiting day.

I think you can take a bus from all three major airports to the downtown. I use the LGA. You may find some useful information here: The Most Departures To Manhattan - New York Airport Service : Schedule

I am a Chinese too. One of my recommenders (a Harvard economist) also told me that I should improve my oral English, although my TOEFL and GRE scores are fine. I think the most important thing that prevent our Chinese from entering a top program is that U.S. professors do not know whether we are really interested in research (savoring the fun of making model, intuitions). If many Chinese guys can be hired by top schools as assistant professors (like UPF, U Tokyo, Bocconi, New Economic School, ITAM, AUEB), not just accepted as graduate students, then it will become easier for our descendants to enter a top ranked program in U.S. Isn't it?

Can we negotiate on the campus visit day?

Fine. I think if more and more admitted students complain about the late visit day of Stanford, the dapartment should notice this. In fact, I have already sent an E-mail to ask if there is any earlier date for campus visit. BTW, does anyone know the campus visit day of Harvard? -
Hi, guys. I am going to visit Yale (28th . March), Princeton (30th. March) and Stanford (13rd. April) to decide which school I am going to attend. But, the tricky thing is that the day of flyout for Stanford is too late for me. I am an international student and can not afford to stay in California for so long time. So can we negotiate on the campus visit day (i.e. make a earlier visit) with the school? And if you do not come on the flyout day, Does this mean that you can not get reimbursement for the trip? Thanks.

Guys, since we received more and more admissions, it is proper time to talk about schools, I think. My impression is that Princeton is excellent in almost every field. Stanford is particularly strong in game and contract theory. Yale is particularly strong in theoretical econometrics and empirical IO. Given that my concentration is international trade now, Princeton seems to be the best place for me. But do most students change their major after entering the program? And how about the real life for graduate students in these schools? (attrition rate; recent placement in trade; the toughness of course work; the living expenses.) Information for other schools is also appreciated.

Princeton enrolled more than 60 in the first round?

I can check whether your name is in it. But I do not have the right to send the list to you, I think. -
