  1. Damn, the test is no tricky. I did Reading Comprehension very very bad. RC section, 12 out of 14 questions I did WRONG. When I did GMATPrep two weeks ago, I scored 760 with no error in RC section at all. Any suggestion? The RC will fail me.
  2. vote for C. maturing process: 1. enough to accept the corresponding responsibilities 2. physiological development is completed
  3. E is making an assumption that those "relatively inefficient tasks" will be outsourced. I was stuck at the thought that it's not stated in the argument and eliminated E. Hopefully I can keep my mind as simple as possible in the real test.
  4. how much red bull did you take? did you ever try it before the test?
  5. Outsourcing is the practice of obtaining from an independent supplier a product or service that a company has previously provided for itself. Vernon, Inc., a small manufacturing company that has in recent years experienced a decline in its profits, plans to boost its profits by outsourcing those parts of its business that independent suppliers can provide at lower cost than Vernon can itself. Which of the following, if true, most strongly supports the prediction that Vernon's plan will achieve its goal? Which of the following, if true, most strongly supports the prediction that Vernon's plan will achieve its goal? (A) Among the parts of its business that Vernon does not plan to outsource are some that require standards of accuracy too high for most independent suppliers to provide at lower cost than Vernon can. (B) Vernon itself acts as an independent supplier of specialized hardware items to certain manufacturers that formerly made those items themselves. © Relatively few manufacturers that start as independent suppliers have been able to expand their business and become direct competitors of the companies they once supplied. (D) Vernon plans to select the independent suppliers it will use on the basis of submitted bids. (E) Attending to certain tasks that Vernon performs relatively inefficiently has taken up much of the time and effort of top managers whose time would have been better spent attending to Vernon's core business. Why E is better? In fact, E didn't mention outsource at all. Who knows whether bad tasks will be outsourced? I think E is wrong. The question is focused on "boost profits", the best answer will support maximizing profits. D can support it because it can choose the lowest price. Make sense?
  6. but in Ofiicial Guide Verbal Review 39, 39 A study commissioned by the Department of Agriculture showed that if calves exercise and associated with other calves, they will require less medication and gain weight quicker than do those raised in confinement. (A) associated with other calves, they will require less medication and gain weight quicker than do (B) associated with other calves, they require less medication and gain weight quicker than © associate with other calves, they required less medication and will gain weight quicker than do (D) associate with other calves, they have required less medication and will gain weight more quickly than do (E) associate with other calves, they require less medication and gain weight more quickly than ...the verb do ungrammatically interrupts the comparison and should be eliminated. That's official explaination. That's why I asked, if in GMATland the verb used in comparison after than is incorrect.
  7. Sometimes I am confused, correct me if I am wrong. It's wrong to add verb, for example "do", to the noun following "than". I am taller than you. (correct) I run faster than you do. (incorrect) I run faster than you run. (incorrect)
  8. Sahil's note? do you have a link?
  9. present participle is showing the state of the action
  10. That's Kaplan's answer. But the sc1000, which I believe is from 86 GMAT paper test chose A.
  11. For many travelers, charter vacations often turn out to cost considerably more than they originally seemed. (A) they originally seemed (B) they originally seem to © they seemingly would cost originally (D) it seemed originally (E) it originally seemed they would Researchers are studying plastics that dissolve at different rates, and they are finding that the so-called 'quick disintegration' plastics are taking more time to deteriorate than they originally seemed. a) they originally seemed b) they seemed originally c) it seemed that they would originally d) it originally seemed e) it originally seemed they would These two questions are the same, from 2001 Kaplan and an old GMAT 1986 paper test. I am having two different answers. Can you give me a good explanation why you prefer one over the other? Thanks
  12. I did it before and I believe it's A. use POE. Can I ask OP what's the 1000SC and where did you get it?
  13. 1. Balzac drank more than fifty cups of coffee a day and died of caffeine poisoning; furthermore, caffeine did not seem to bother Samuel Johnson, the great writer and lexicographer, who was reported to have drunk twenty-five cups of tea at one sitting. (A) furthermore, caffeine did not seem to bother (B) however, caffeine did not seem to bother © however, caffeine did not seem to have bothered (D) furthermore, caffeine did not seem to have bothered (E) in addition, caffeine did not seem to bother B) or C)? and why? Answer is B but I did find lots of examples using "seem to have done"
