  8. but time taking is critical as well! so if we know the time it takes to compose the essay we will know if its 'cute' long essay
  9. Kindly help crique this essay. i have not written one in years. i need to know where i stand and what needs to be done. This was written under 40 minutes. Thanks as you read this. "Too much emphasis is placed on role models. Instead of copying others, people should learn to think and act independently and thus make the choices that are best for them." Growing up is not an easy and straight forward process. Early in life, we are confronted with a lot of options-good and bad. we generally need other peoples' help, especially at this infatile stage, to guide us toward embracing the 'good' options. This help, which comes in the form of guidance, direction, motivation and peaceful society, are directly or indirectly provided by people we aspire to be like. Our role model. From this perspective, no amount of emphasis can be too much in encouraging people to take part in the development of others. In another sense, too much of this assiatnce can stymied creativity and originatlity. Also, if applied in the wrong situation, it can place too much pressure on people. This essay will discuss the pros and cons of our admiration for role models. Role models have always play an important part in every stage of our physical and mental development. Take for instance, an infant we never learn to walk if he does not want to be like people around him -his role model- around him. It is the presence of these people and what they do that instinctively guide, direct and motivate him to learn how to walk. Another case in point is the role our teachers play in stimulating the way we think and, by extention, create a progressing society. This positive role convince student to take up a teaching profession and help create a better copmmmunities. Now, who says any attention placed on these role models- families and teachers- will be more than deserving! In addition, role models help create a peaceful society. Kids that will otherwise be involvled in other activities such as joining a gang, are motivated by the praises heaped on role model and therefore will deisre to be like one. For example, placing emphasis on people that have 'made' it from zero to hero will povide an alternative line of action for the youth of a similar society. It creates the believe that if the role model can make it out of nothing, they can also do. However, placing an uncontrolled emphasis on role models have its downside as well. As much as we will not encourage an infant to walk on his head, we will want to encourage an adult to be able to make his or her own decision. Presurising people into the kind of person they are not completely comfortable to be will be dire. Not everybody want to be Albert Eistein. To some being a Picasso is okay for them. Imagine the frustration of a child that enjoys arts at an early age but is surrounded by people that constantly want him to learn the essence of quadratic equation. Placing too much empahis on this kind of role model in this particular situation is like eating through the nose. Conclusively, placing emphasis on role models are very essential in our society as they provide guidance, motivation, and a crime free society. In doing this, however, we must be able to marry the society with the role model so as not to create tension or pressure that will not allow people to make their own decision
