  1. Good luck to you everybody.
  2. By the way , for those who don't know, I am doing a master here in my country not the US. It was just a hypothetical question. My plans have switched the reason why I am not around anymore. But this thread is too old. Who's messing up with my profile?
  3. Actually CPR is the best available . Some people use Moris cody, som use Apha as well. But those are rare . Most of them just rely on CPR and shroff books, and that's enough I think. Anyway no matter what review book you use, It needs you to have a strong background obtained from your college years in order to pass. Professors that create fpgee questions might just open the common review books and create questions about material that is not covered in those books, ya know.
  4. I 'm sorry guys , I never meant to scare you. Actually CPR is the worst but It's the best available . CPR is no more than just some compressed disorganized information . It's known that when you don't understand the information you forget it the next day. CPR never let you understand anything. The font is small and this is harmful for the eyes. No colors which gives the book a borring sense. You find some mistakes ( I mean scientific mistakes not typos ) . The book is not well-organized. A review book is supposed to be highly organized and full of tables and charts which are not seen very often in that book. And also pictures and diagrams are not seen . Pictures and diagrams makes memorizing very easy. The number of the questions at the end of each chapter are not enough, and some, even few, are answered incorrectly. But anyway It has lots of information so It's a good reference , but without understadning , whitout a strong background , It's hard to benefit from that book. But don't worry It's the best available. People who use It pass. But for me , I can't just memorize an info without full understanding . That's why I prefer to start with individual books then move finally to CPR. Sorry for scarring you, I didn't mean that.
  5. Why do you lie to him ? It is " CRAPPY PHARMACY REFERENCE" , C-P-R , duh!
  6. You're welcome Khadooj, wish you all the best for your exam :)
  7. I think the same reasoning applies here . Here's a list ( strongest to weakest ), I obtained it from wikipedia : 1-Potassium hydroxide (KOH) 2-Barium hydroxide (Ba(OH)2) 3-Cesium hydroxide (CsOH) 4-Sodium hydroxide (NaOH) 5-Strontium hydroxide (Sr(OH)2) 6-Calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)2) 7-Lithium hydroxide (LiOH) 8-Rubidium hydroxide (RbOH) If you have a look at the periodic table you will discover that It has to do with ion size and electropositivity . Here's the periodic table if you don't have it : http://gpc.edu/~pgore/PhysicalScience/periodic-table.gif Good luck.
  8. If you accept my advice I would say try to memorize as little as possible. All you have to do is look at the size of the ion ( you can figure it out from the periodic table ) . Since F has the smallest size It attracts protons ( the positive charge ) most strongly which means HF is the weakest acid. Using the same reasoning HI, is found the strongest.
  9. You're welcome. Thanks for the addition.
  10. I don't know the exact mechanism , but I read that It is asscociated with potassium depletion .Insulin activity relies on the endothelial function and Nitric Oxide bioavailability. Potassium loss causes impaired endothelial function and lowers NO bioavailability, which blocks insulin activity and results in insulin resistance. Potassium supplements are shown to improve glucose intolerance caused by thiazides.
  11. The drug of choice for hypertension in pregnant women is Methyldopa. Diuretics are best avoided in pregnancy possibly due to concerns about decreasing maternal blood volume which is harmful to the fetus. ACE inhibitors cause intrauterine death. B-blockers cause growth retardation. Calcium channel blockers are another safe option. Who cares about Pharmacist 771 ?
