Hello,
I just finished my GMAT about two hours ago and I wanted to share with you all what I did well and how I could have improved.
First, my PP scores
PP1 Before any preparation: 720
PP2 A week before the exam: 720
PP2 The day before the exam: 750
I used OG 11 plus the Verbal and Quantitative guides published by ACT. I also downloaded the first two exam sets from http://www.mba.com.
General Reflections
I would not pay much attention to Kaplan's computer adaptive tests. I scored about two hundreds points below my actual score on them.
I highly recommend downloading exams from http://www.mba.com. The more practice with actual exam questions the better.
My testing center had a private room. I found this out when I went by the center a week before the exam. I arrived extra early to the testing center today to make sure I could have this room. If you are like me (you get distracted easily) I highly recommend checking to see if your testing center has private rooms. You can sometimes reserve these in advance as well.
I recommend Princeton Review's AWA section.
Princeton Review and Kaplan both have good strategies (e.g., POE and backsolving), however, these can be determined briefly reading the introductory chapters. I recommend using these strategies, but practicing on as many real GMAT problems as possible.
I recommend the GMAT 800 book for you final studying push.
I identified my weaknesses (all things quantitative and sentence correction) and then focused on each for a few days. I think this is a better strategy than trying to improve all aspects of your test performance at the same time.Alright, that is all that I can think of right now. Erin thanks for setting up this forum, I found it to be extremely helpful and motivating. Let me know if you have any specific questions about my exam preparation. Hopefully I will see some of you all in class twelve months from now!
