  2. How many number of times will the digit ‘7' be written when listing the integers from 1 to 1000? (1) 271 (2) 300 (3) 252 (4) 304 Is there any simple way to solve this problem?pls let me know. Ans is (B)

  5. let me try.. 600 men @ of x consume in 35 days i.e., 600*35*x as more men ,less days and higher rate less days. After the addition of 300 more men,it will be 900 men @ of y consume in n days 600*35*x=900*n*y x/y=5/6 therefore n=19 days approx.. Please let me know if its the answer .
  6. Two couples and one single person are seated at random in a row of five chairs. What is the probability that neither of the couples sits together in adjacent chairs?
  7. Vinay In the second question we can also say first book can be selected in 5 ways Second in 4 ways and third in 3 ways which makes the total no of ways to 60 What you think? In the first question..don;t you think since order does not matter here we can just say..5C3=10 ways.. pls let me know.

If he only uses three fruits, how many different juice can John make? 2.How many different ways can five books be arranged three at a time? Out of these two where to use Permutation and where to use combination? i m having hard time differentiating.. please help
  9. Hi Kuriang Yes you r right..I got confused with option A which seems quite a general assumption but not strong enough to support the Conclusion. Thanks..
  10. Some have argued that in order to encourage ethnic diversity, a university should actively recruit prospective students from other nations and offer these students full scholarships. However, these people should realize that spending additional money on academic programs, rather than on recruitment and scholarships, will make the university attractive to a large number of ethnically diverse students. Which one of the following is an assumption made in the argument above? A.Efforts to increase ethnic diversity will require some university funds for their implementation. B.Decisions related to allocation of a group’s resources should be made by the group as a whole. C.Full scholarships would not be sufficient to lure ethnically diverse students to a university. D.If university administrators do not encourage ethnic diversity, the effort must come from students. E.If ethnic diversity is achieved, a university will no longer need to spend money on scholarships and recruitment.
  11. 1.A and B ran a race of 480 m. In the first heat, A gives B a head start of 48 m and beats him by 1/10 th of a minute. In the second heat, A gives B a head start of 144 m and is beaten by 1/30 th of a minute. What is B’s speed in m/s? (A) 12 (B) 14 © 16 (D) 18 (E) 20 2.AB + CD = AAA, where AB and CD are two-digit numbers and AAA is a three digit number; A, B, C, and D are distinct positive integers. In the addition problem above, what is the value of C? (A) 1 (B) 3 © 7 (D) 9 (E) Cannot be determined 3.
  12. Hi Kfree Use Process of Elimination. Ans B.
  13. Hi Kfree I think the catch here is 6 hrs and 5 hrs.Plane will take more time to reach the destination(in this case) only if its going against the stream.Since the distance remains same and time for both ways have been provided,i think the best approach here is to use D/T.I agree that 600 mph is confusing. Its not clear whether it is talking about the plane speed or relative speed. The bottom line is in questions related to stream ,always go by what has been clearly stated . Hope it helps.
  14. 1. Use Relative velocity,RV S=Speed of Stream, P=Speed of plane so From NY to LA RV=3000/6=500=P-S and From LA to NY RV=3000/5=600=P+S so 2S=100 and S=50. 2. Ans is worng..Even if you try to solve taking A's present age as 18 ,the age difference is not coming to be 6. Thanx
