    Car in US

Scooters are your best bet, I bought two for grad school(one for me and one for the Mrs.) because parking is a problem at most campus's. If you have never been to the US something to keep in mind is that it is HUGE! you will be amazed at how much more distance is between everything. 4-5K will get you a decent car but you could get away with $1500-$2000. You should only need liability insurance on a car that cheap so it would be about $100 per month. Your best bet would be to call the state DMV and see if your license will transfer then go online to get an insurance quote, esurance, state farm, geico, american family etc. most schools you could get by without a car but it is really nice to have one. Roy
  2. Yeah, there are a few that do 1/4 time to full funding. I think UConn and Iowa State do also I think FSU had some but I am not sure. Roy
  3. After 8 flights, 12 meetings, 4 car rentals, 3 realtors, and 2000 miles of driving I have decided on FSU! I'm going to sleep now...
  4. Should be getting my $600 in a week or so... Can anyone recommend a decent desktop for about $500.00 I will be doing applied work so RAM is king! Anyone else have plans for their Bush Bills?
  5. Both FSU and UKY look like about 8-12 people, but I don't know how accurate that is.
  6. I'm down to two anyway; Florida State University or University of Kentucky I fly again to Kentucky on the 28th and again to FSU on the 29th...decesion on the 30th.

  8. This is the upper echelon of college students, probably the top 99.5% if not better. On a societal level I wouldn't be too concerned, all of the greats were a little weird anyway. If they developed the same as everyone else they would have been the same as everyone else.
  9. No funding :( I think I can be just as good of an economist at my other choices so I am not too concerned.
  10. I am not going to decline good money from FSU or UKY, but that just me. I have untill the 22nd so I am hoping UAZ comes through with funding. I asked about the possiblity of funding becoming availible:
  11. Be careful you might get eaten alive taking the core + more as an undergrad. Esp. at such a good school, you have a great profile but the so will the grad students you are with and being compared to. The only difference is they will have much more time to study then you... Really you are on track to having the perfect profile but I think a few B's in the core may hurt your perfect streak. $.02 Roy
  12. I find out today whether or not I got funding to go... most likely not though. Roy

  14. I am a little torn between schools and asked for an extension on the deadline. I got an e-mail back extending it and revising my TA duties from 20 to 10 hours with the same stipend. Although I doubt I would have worked more then 10 hours it still pretty interesting. Is this common for schools to do? Do you think there is some bargaining power with the other institution? Thanks, Roy

  16. Aren't they a big game theory school, maybe there is something to it...???...
  17. Funded vs. Not... yes!.. heck I am picking FSU or UK over MSU Grad Cafe was lacking...maybe I just got rejected and they are waiting to hear from acceptances first...
  18. Yeah, I saw that when I applied but I also saw something in the admissions material that states they review applications as they come in so it best not to wait till the deadline. I figured it they reviewed then as they came in they would make the decision as they came in. Guess I will wait and hope if I do get accepted the other program releases me.
  19. I e-mailed them and they say the give their decisions in May. I am not going to lose all of my other offers to wait; so it seems like I wasted an application. Anyone know why they do this?
