I applied for MA and not phd like most of you did and since UWO seems to be getting rid of their MA and since they fund most graduate students, I think that will work against me. Why would they invest in an MA applicant. UWO seems to be a reject!:hmm::) best

OMG! Two months of torture. I hope Queen's gives out admits earlier. I didn't apply to UBC.

This is what UWO's website says: "Applications will not be processed until January. The Departmental Assessment Committee will not review applicants until after the February 1st deadline. The results of their decisions will not be known until late February-early March." Isn't that funny? Western seems to have a good program. A big department and diverse research fields. But I just thought that I could have saved myself the application fee if I knew how they actually did it! Best

LOOOOL! I haven't even received an invitation to visit. I emailed them to ask if they have received everything and they didn't even answer it. LoL. I applied to their MA though. I guess I already know one of my rejects. Their website says they won't review apps before Feb. 1st deadline (I think it does). If they do and they even send out admits, then I think it's a bit arrogant of them. Why did so many of us apply if they were just going to recruit. Anyways, I'm happy and I'll just hope for the best.:) Happy Valentine's day!

I'm so glad that you brought this up. I have been thinking of the same thing for a while. I have applied for a few MA programs this year but I keep thinking what if I won't like graduate work in economics or the career options that I'm going to have. I wonder if I can start on a completely different path afterwards because unfortunately I don't like law or business which could be easily pursued with an MA in economics. Anyone know anyone who changed careers from economics to a completely different field? Thanks

just to follow up on this. How long does it take for Queens to check off supporting documents? They have been good to me so far but it's taking them a bit longer to check off my last LOR. I never had to wait more than a week before. Just wondering. Thanks

I would take Math 228B: numerical solutions of differential equations. The prerequisite is Math 128A: numerical analysis which is also offered this term. I think you can fit them into your schedule. I wonder if they are useful for computational stuff.

To all those who are applying in Canada, Do you send all documents (LOR, SOP, and transcripts) together? My recommenders are mailing the LORs individually. And I'm asking the school to send the transcripts. I'm wondering if that could cause problems. Some schools, such as Queens, say that they prefer one package of documents. Also, if anyone is applying to Queens, are you sending your documents directly to the department or to the school of graduate studies? Information on their website is SO confusing. Good Luck

I should tell you guys that the MA programs I'm applying to have deadlines in late Janury and February.

Hey guys, What happens if my recommenders send the letters to a school while I haven't submitted the application yet. Will they get lost? I still don't know my third recommender and one of my schools requires three letters (its for MA). And I don't want to confuse the other two recommenders. So, I want to let them send the letters while I'm looking for a third person. I'm just afraid that the school is gonna throw them away. What do you guys think?

I don't think he asked for universities that don't have racist policies. Plus, you cannot ELIMINATE racism by setting rules and policies. There will always be people who display racist attitudes and can easily get away with it. He is simply asking if there are states/locations where this behavior is minimized. He might for example prefer to go to a state/university where there are more middle eastern people. By the way, he did not say that only US has racism. Why are you getting so defensive? A bit of anxiety is natural for a middle eastern person these days. Don't take it personal.
