Congrats gforce on another mega admit btw what is the update from UIUC and UT Austin?

For MS CS Stanford says " Only those applicants that the department would like to consider and admit to the Master's program will be individually contacted via e-mail by the end March. Good Luck,"

I am in the same situation as you I will only say "When GOD leads you to the edge of the cliff, trust HIM fully ,only 1 of the 2 things will happen. Either HE will catch you when you fall or HE will teach you how to fly" regards

Last week I have seen many admits and rejects as well on TM. I have also got three rejects . So I want to ask some questions as to what counts? (I am talking about admission to say top 20 engg. univeristies in USA). These are very basic questions but sometimes good profile people also get rejected so I am posing these questions again How much is the GPA or percentage important in case of PhD application and in case of MS application ? Can one get admit into the good Engg. gradaute programs with good GRE quntitative score , normal verbal score and good toefl score ? What is more important GRE /AGRE ? What is counted in the letters of reference for PhD applications and for MS Applications? What if the your professor is not well known but has written you a very good LOR ? A link posted by some one on TM about Berkeley EECS admission process says that if u can get a reference letter from EE professor then excellent if u get a reference letter from a CS professor then it is OK:hmm: What should the SOP highlight if one is trying for MS in comparison to PhD Application? Is the research important for MS admissions as well?? What other factors effect your admissions? .................. Waiting for some good responses to my basic questions?

Sorry to hear it. But dont worry as you have got one of the best profiles I have ever seen . Some great admits are waiting for you
-
congrats Rusin really well done
-
congrats Meraj on both of your admits

here is what they said to me ---------------------------- Dear Applicant, We received your e-mail requesting to know the reason why you were denied. There was nothing wrong with your application, nor is there a formula Used to admit or deny applicants. Every year there are simply more good applicants than we have room for. This was an especially difficult year to gain admission due to the number of applications. We had approximately 2500 applicants for about 75 new students. Your case was carefully reviewed and we simply did not have the space to admit you. Good luck with your future plans. Sincerely, The EECS Graduate Admissions Staff U.C. Berkeley

I have been through this problem once. The safest way is to call ETS and confirm in my opinion your first name: Muhammad last: mahmood and middle: kamran -

btw how does ets calculates the scaled score is a bit unclear to me Suppose i answer 25 questions right and leave 45 blank and let us say that 65 questions would be used to calculate the scaled score So what would be my raw score and scaled score
