  1. My take:- This simply boils down to how many 2s maximum will there be in 12! The even factors in 12! are 2 - No. of 2s - 1 4 - No. of 2s - 2 6 - No. of 2s - 1 8 - No. of 2s - 3 10 - No. of 2s - 1 12 - No. of 2s - 2 Total - No. of 2s - 10
  2. Defense attorneys have occasionally argued that their clients’ misconduct stemmed from a reaction to something ingested, but in attributing criminal or delinquent behavior to some food allergy, the perpetrators are in effect told that they are not responsible for their actions. (A) in attributing criminal or delinquent behavior to some food allergy (B) if criminal or delinquent behavior is attributed to an allergy to some food © in attributing behavior that is criminal or delinquent to an allergy to some food (D) if some food allergy is attributed as the cause of criminal or delinquent behavior (E) in attributing a food allergy as the cause of criminal or delinquent behavior I couldnot understand what this sentence would mean. The OA is B. That makes the entire sentence as Defense attorneys have occasionally argued that their clients’ misconduct stemmed from a reaction to something ingested, but if criminal or delinquent behavior is attributed to an allergy to some food, the perpetrators are in effect told that they are not responsible for their actions. The first part says that attorneys argue on misconduct then suddenly "but" is used to show a contrasting thought . Why is a but needed at all? What is the meaning of the second part of the sentence?
  3. 5. Can a circular table cloth cover a rectangular table completely? (1) The diameter of the cloth is greater than the length of the table. (2) The area of the cloth is greater than the area of the table. A. Statement (1) ALONE is sufficient but Statement (2) ALONE is not sufficient. B. Statement (2) ALONE is sufficient but Statement (1) ALONE is not sufficient. C. BOTH Statements TOGETHER are sufficient, but NEITHER Statement alone is sufficient. D. Each Statement ALONE is sufficient. E. Statements (1) and (2) TOGETHER are NOT sufficient.
  4. My take:- Ans is A. California explained correctly.
  5. My take(As already mentioned too):- o 5/8 v 1/4 Sa + p + su = 1 - (5/8 + 1/4) = 1/8 i.e. sa = p = su = 1/24 Picking no. approach ====================== Suppose 24 as the mixture quantity Old mixture ------------- o 15 v 6 sa = p = su = 1 New mixture ------------- Now v is doubled and su not added o 15 v 12 sa = p = 1 total 29 o fraction = 15/29 Modified fraction approach ============================================ New mixture ------------ o 5/8 v 1/2 sa + p = 2/24 Total sum = 29/24 {Since the fractions have been modified the sum will no more be 1.} New o fraction = (5/8)/(29/24) =15/29 Hence A.
  6. http://www.gmatscratchpad.com/scratchpad2.JPG/scratchpad2-full.jpg Take a look....i suggest u give a search on anything in this forum.....You will actually find everything already discussed. Cheers
  7. What do you think "extended" modifies then? I think "extended" modifies "sales".
  8. Concepts Tested:- Pronoun reference - Pronoun "its" correctly refers noun "retailer" D E out Tense - The sentence main verb is in past "said", so the earlier verb should be in past That makes A the answer But at the same time a Modifier problem - "extended" is an adjective that needs adverb "recently" for modification That rules A out I think there is something wrong with the question. Seeking expert's opinion.........BOB, as always in demand again
  9. The desired fraction = (X/2 + 2/3Y) / Y = (X/2 + 2/3*2X) / 2X = (1/2 + 4/3) / 2 = 11/12 Thus C.
  10. My take:- Given that X = 4/3 Y Y = 3/4 Z Z = 24000 => Y = 3/4*24000 => Y = 18000 => X = 4/3*18000 => X = 24000 Thus C.
  11. My take:- Given that, 0.8S = 1.2C =>S=1.2/0.8C =>S=1.5C Profit will be 50%. Thus C.
  12. My take:- First, Kudos to BOB for detailed explanations as always The others being Richard wright’s son Comparison errors - Cane is compared Richard Wright whereas it should be compared with Richard Wright's son. A elim B x including usage wrong – indicates novels include Richard. C elim D elim E OK Thus E.
  13. My take(agree with others):- This a proportion problem not work. 6 m/c need 12 days No. of m/c is inversely proportional to days => m = k/d => m1d1 = m2d2 =>6*12 = (6+x)8 =>9-6 = x =>x = 3 Thus, 2 or B.
  14. My take(agree with others):- From the given data, x = 4y+1 x = 7z+6 =>4y+1=7z+6 =>4y=7z+5 =>y=(7z+5)/4 Thus, D Simple and quick.
