Hello all,
I intend going to grad school in Fall '09 and start the application process by sept '08. I know I am posting way too early, but I just wanted to get a reality check and a pragmatic view of my possible colleges. Please help me.
I am currently doing my undergrad in Drexel University in the EE dept.
GRE: yet to give it but i think will get a score of 1350+ (Q750+ V600+ W4+)
Current undergrad cumulative GPA: 3.97/4.0
Current undergrad technical GPA: 4.0/4.0
expected undergrad cGPA: 3.9+
I am doing a triple track in EE (Electronics, DSP and Controls) along with a minor in Engineering Management.
Have done 3 six-month internships (i.e. 1.5 yrs of experience)
1 was in engineering management
other 2 were in engineering and research
Have 2 publications in journals(the journals are decently known, if not very well known)
Won the "best project award" in the first year project
Currently working on 2 research projects (one in controls and one in DSP)
Will be doing Senior project in Sept '08 (as per curiculum)
Hold 2 office positions (one in IEEE and another in a service fraternity)
Am a member of National Honors Soceity (TBP) and National Electrical Engineering Honors Society (HKN)
I know I will graduate with Honors distinction
I have a few other honors (like 2-3 more)
Kindly evaluate my profile. Again, I am just trying to get a reality check if I shuld be applying to the following colleges. My aims are really high and I am confused if I am practical.
1. MIT
2. UC, Berkely
3. Cal Tech
4. Georgia Tech
5. UIUC
6. CMU
7. UCLA
8. U of Texas, Austin
9. Ohio State Univ
10. Purdue
I aim to do a Masters in EE(Controls or DSP - not decided on that yet) and possibly a phD.
Please tell me if my list is too ambitious. Kindly point out univs which you think I shoudnt even apply and if possible, please include some univs you think I shold apply with my profile. Please also, if possible, point out univs you think I could get in without much problem. Lastly, kindly advise what area you think I should improve in case I need to enhance my chances of getting into the top schools.
Thank you all very much,
Really appreciate your time and patience,
Hoping to hear soon
V.
