  1. @habasha : Thanks for the solns @col_do: This is what I am looking on this forum - Shortcuts !!!! Thanks a lot frnd
  2. For Q1. Why haven't we considered integer value = 1. ?? The answer should be D
  3. Hi Friends, Please give explanation for the queries titled: Query 1, Query 2, Query 3, Query 4 and Query5 in the Picasa album Picasa Web Albums - Shyam - Quants
  4. @Goldust : Thanks for the correction. Trying to improve on SC ... I guess I need to do more !!! :(
  5. Well I would certainly go for C . If I were to select options for the first blank space, I would select options A,B and C {Not D because issues are never auspicious and Not E because of the keyword "philosophers called attention to the ---- character of the issue" If we say problematic, there is nothing that is drawing the attention of the philosophers. We never say that "Its a problematic issue", simply because issues being problematic is implicit and there is nothing to mention explicit or drawing the kind of attention mentioned in the statement. What we always mention explicitly about an issue is its nature ! } If I were to select the second blank space, it would be A C , D or E. Deriving common options will lead me to A or C. There is no specific reason for rejecting A, but I feel it should be C. Anyone to correct me over here ?
  6. This is simply awesome friend !!! Thanks a lot for coming out with such helpful applications !!
  7. I am taking a shot at Q 2. We can assume these variables to be actual numbers to simplify solution. Let x = 20 shares and price/share i.e. t = 2 {Its always better to use a number > 1 to avoid exceptional cases.} So x > 20, lets assume the immediate number i.e. x = 21 So first 20 are sold at $(t+1) i.e. $ 3 => Total cost of first 20 = 20*3 = $60 The remaining are sold at $ (t+4) i.e. $6 = > Tot cost of remaining = 1*6 = $6. So the total amt = 60 + 6 = $66 for selling all the shares. Now had we used the same earlier amt i.e. $2/share = > Tot cost = 2* 21 = $ 42. Profit = 66 -42 = $24 If t and x are large numbers i.e. 11 than I guess Profit will be more So the answer is D

    I am not if I have got the question right ..... But the question is Roy is now 4 years older than Erik and half of that amount older than Iris And you have taken "Roy is 2 years older than Iris" !!! Any clarifications on this ??
  9. ------------------------ For Q 7. I did not understand why it is D !!! Since 2 => a = {3,4,5} and b = {7,8,9} Now from 3 + 6 + 9 + a + b /5 = 6.2 = > a + b = 13 So a has to be {4 , 5} and b = {8,9} Considering each value will only result in Col B > Col A . Please rectify if I am wrong on this one.:)
  10. TINT : SUFFUSE :: (A) ponder : yearn (B) regret : undo © damp : quench (D) shroud : screen (E) amble : wander MAGAZINE : PERIODICAL :: (A) newspaper : edition (B) mystery : fiction © volume : encyclopedia (D) chapter : book (E) article : journal
  11. Hey thanks for the solution.. Wish i cud have answers to all of them !!! I have my GRE exam in 4 hrs from now ... Hope I dont get any questions from above that were unanswered !! :p
  12. no replies frnds !!!!!!!! These are from the monthly threads which contain q's that did arrive in actual GRE exams !!
