  1. Hello CACERj01 - Why do you say that when 23 is divided by 8, the solution is infinite - is it not 2.875? This questions perpelxed me as I thought it is very straightforward but I can not understand the OA!
  2. Both seem simple but cant get the answer rightv- Please also explain! Which of the following inequalities is equivalent to –2 (A) | x – 2 | (B) | x – 1 | © | x + 1 | (D) | x + 2 | (E) None of the above OA is A certain company has records stored with a record-storage firm in 15-inch by 12-inch by 10-inch boxes. The boxes occupy 1.08 million cubic inches of space. If the company pays $0.25 per box per month for record storage, what is the total amount that the company pays each month for record storage? (A) $150 (B) $300 © $600 (D) $1,200 (E) $2,400 OA is
  3. Is x – y > r – s? (1) x > r and y (2) y = 2, s = 3, r = 5, and x = 6. I am able to arrive at the OA which is but that meant going through permutation and combination of positive and negative numbers. I want to know if there is a short way to do it. Thanks in advance!
  4. The figure above shows the dimensions of a square picture frame that was constructed using four pieces of frame as shown. If w is the width of each piece of the frame, what is the area of each piece? (1) w = 3 inches (2) PQ = underoot 18 inches OA is Sorry, I dont know howto paste the figure in the post!
  5. If x = 0. rstu, where r, s, t, and u each represent a nonzero digit of x, what is the value of x? (1) r = 3s = 2t = 6u (2) The product of r and u is equal to the product of s and t. OA is A
  6. If x + y + z > 0, is z > 1? (1) z > x + y +1 (2) x + y + 1
  7. Dwarrior - But, would you not divide the total number of favourable outcomes (in this case 2) by the number of total possible outcomes?
  8. Great thanks all !. But, is there any other way to arrive at the answer i.e besides remembering the square root of the numbers?
  9. Can not get around to this question in OG. Which of the following ratios is most nearly equal to 1+√5 to 2 8 to 5 6 to 6 5 to 4 2 to 1 1 to 1
  10. ittake22win and Dwarrior both of you are right. The answer is 23 - though arrived at differently . Though i am not sure if the explanation is logical enough! If 1/8 is the probability of drawing a blue ball then there are 40/8 = 5 blue balls in the jar. And with the same principle there are 8 red balls and 4 green ones. 40 – 5 – 8 – 4 = 23 balls (yellow is the only color left).
  11. thanks. and what is IMO?
  12. In gmat, what is the property of zero - Is it odd or even? Positive or Negative
  13. In a jar there are balls in different colors: blue, red, green and yellow. The probability of drawing a blue ball is 1/8. The probability of drawing a red ball is 1/5. The probability of drawing a green ball is 1/10. If a jar cannot contain more than 50 balls, how many yellow balls are in the Jar? I was trying to solve this question with the logic probability of all events put together is 1. I can not seem to get the right answer that way - pl help.
  14. Could some one help me with this question A die is thrown repeatedly untill a six comes up. What is the sample space for this experiment?
