  1. You can also do it this way. From the table, retirees spent 66% of their food and household expenditures on food at home. 23% of the food and household expenditures was spent on meat, poultry, & seafood. So 35%, or approx. 1/3, of their food at home was spent on meat, p & s. From the graph 19% of their total income was spent on food at home. 1/3 of that is 6.33 or approx. 7%.
  2. Here is the answer to the second question: The table gives that 23% of the amount spent on food & household expenditures is spent on meat, poultry, seafood. The graph gives that retirees spent 40% on food and non-food items. The non-food items in the graph that are not included in the table are Gasoline and Other fuels. So you need to subtract the 11% that retirees spent on these 2 from 40%. That means the retiree spends 29% of his income on food & household expenditures. 23% of 29% is 6.67 so 7 is the answer.
