    H4 to F1 status change

Hi Guys, This is an answer to my own question. This might help someone else so posting it here. After posting this query, I met with my university's International student advisor. she told me that there should not be any question raised regarding why you want to convert from H4 to F1. Converting from H4 to F1 is not only beneficial to the applicant but also to INS. With each student on F1 visa, INS can track activity of each student. However, if in case the question is raised regarding why you want to convert from H4 to F1, one must not mention that he/she wants to do on-campus job or desires to do OPT. The only justification that should be given is, I want to study as a full-time student and my university recommends me to convert to F1 to study as a full-time student. Hope this helps to someone, Lenz
  2. Hi, I am currently on H4 visa in the US, and I want to convert to F1 visa. My school allows me to study on H4. But my purpose for the change is to get on-campus job, internship, Optional Practical Training after MS. I'm planning to go to India to get my visa changed to F1, since applying for change of status in US can take an indefinite amount of time. My husband and I have not applied for Permanent residency. I have a few questions regarding converting to F1: 1. What justification is considered acceptable at the US Embassy for converting from H4 to F1? 2. Are there any special documents/forms that I need to submit to US Embassy along with F1 application (over above the regular documentation expected of an F1 applicant)? Thanks, lenz

    GRE score on phone

Hi, I wanted to know if it is possible to get the GRE analytical writing score over the phone through ETS's 'Score by Phone' service. If yes, how many days after the test does this score become available. Thanks
  5. hey...gmatfordays..go one spet at a time. first solve v* after that solve for (2v/3)* see what ans you get. it should be (2v/3) - (2v/3)/3 =(2v/3) - (2v/9) =4v/9 and this is equal to 8.... solve it..you should be able to get the ans
  6. v* = v-v/3 = 2v/3 (v*)* = 2v/3-2v/3/3 = 2v/3-2v/9 = 4v/9 = 8 v = 18
  7. Thanks Anony..but I did not understand why did you consider Pr (2R and 1 NR)= (3C2)*(3C1)/6C3= 9/20 Pr(1R and 2NR)= (3C1)*(3C2)/6C3= 9/20 What made you consider this part of the qst?
  8. but any ans to my qst?????
  9. its like this....the probability that no red marbel will be drawn means selecting both red balls and 1 white ball this makes ans as 2c2 * 1c1/6c3 = 1 /20. Btw, I also got the ans as 19/20. but the above mentioned way is also not wrong. So I was confused why cant I used following formula Probability of selecting no red = 1 - Probability of selecting red :shy:..as I said this is one of the old posts
  10. no thats not correct..what you have applied is combination formula. the way I did. but the correct ans is 1/20
  11. I found the following problem from the old post. A box contains 6 marbles, 3 red, 2 blue, 1 white. If 3 marbles are selected at random, what is the probability that no red marbel will be drawn ? I solve it as following. Probability of selecting no red = 1 - Probability of selecting red = 1 - (3C3/6C3) = 19/20 I understand that this problem can also be solved by finding probability of selecting 2 blue balls and probability of selecting 1 whilte ball. and the ans is 1/20. Please tell me why the ans is different and why cant I solve it by using method 1
  12. ooops..I goofed up in denomenator..thanks
  13. there are two possibilities..either 2 M and 2 W are selected from separate gp or 1 W and 1 M from one gp and 1 W and 1 M from another gp therefore, (3C2 * 2C2)/(4C2 * 4C2) + (3C1 * 1C1 * 2C1 * 1C1)/(4C2 * 4C2) = 3/36 + 6/36 = 1/4
  14. to add to my previous ans (1720/980)*100 = 175%
  15. well..I'm not able to understand your qst completely because of junk characters....for what ever I could understand here is the ans % increase = diff in the increased amount/original amt = (710/980)*100 = 72%
