If I wanted to pursue Phd after completion of MS, which school would be the best fit? no funding from any of school I appreciate any comments/advices/helps. Best
  3. Hi, everyone. I am trying to finalize the list of schools I am applying for the 2009 Fall, so that I can start finishing up my SOP and emailing the professors for the LORs. I would like to get as much as input possible. Here is my profile GRE - 590/770/3.5 GPA - 3.681 / 4.0 (from University of North Carolina at Wilmington) in CS Tofel - As far as I know I am exempted from this since I did my under-grad study in US. Is that right? 2 months of working experience in mobile-platform solution company since graduation and planning to continue this until August 2009 I would really appreciate if any seniors can evaluate my profile and list of schools and comment on it Also, as I stated in this post, http://www.www.urch.com/forums/computer-science-admissions/100328-could-i-have-chance-phd-program.html I would like to apply for PhD, but It will be even helpful if anyone can point out which schools would be better applied for MS or PhD. I hope best for the PhD, but if this is too hard, I don't mind starting with an master degree course. 1. University of Maryland 2. GA Tech 3. University of CA, Irvine 4. University of Washington, Seattle 5. UMass 6. Stony Brook 7. University of CA, Davis 8. USC Thanks for any help, comments, advices
  4. Hi. I am an international student, and I finished my under graduate study in the USA a couple of months ago. While I was studying, I planned to go to a grad school, so I took the GRE test and asked my 3 professors for the recommendation letters before I come back to my country. I have been working in IT since graduation. What I originally wanted to do was to get into a grad school doing a master degree and get a job after graduation, but recently I started having a second thought and wanting to go for a Phd degree for some reasons. 1. better job market opportunity(both in my country and US) 2. less money(given many Phd stduents get a financiall support) 3. I like studying. But, I am worried about that I don't have any publications or serious research experience. so here are my questions. 1. is it possible for a under-graduated student(like me) to be accepted for an Phd course with no publication? 2. if so, what school would I hope any chances? any suggestion? I would like to study Software Engineering. Here is my profile too GRE - 590/770/3.5 GPA - 3.681 / 4.0 (from UNCW) Tofel - As far as I know I am exempted from this since I did my under-grad study in US. Is that right? 2 months of working experience in mobile-platform solution company Thanks for any help, comments, advices

  7. Hello, everyone. I just finished my second GRE test and got 590/770/? I am planning to pursue a Master Degree in Computer Science possibly in California State and getting a job after graduation. My interest area is Software Engineering. The ones that I have in my minds are UCLA, UCI, USC, and UCSD. I would like to experience the west side culture, since I've been in NC for about 4 years. kinda got tired of being in a small city. I am an international student in US. I got the chairman scholarship from my department once for 10,000usd, and worked on 2 projects with professors. My overall GPA is around 3.65, and major GPA is 3.9ish. I haven't thought about applying for next Spring, but if you have any recommendations plz let me know. and Would it have bad effects if I graduate this summer and have 1 year of not being in a school when regarding getting accepted or not?
