  1. hi all, seems like mostly engineering and computer science people out there. what are competive scores for humanities phd programs? write if you are applying to these programs! nycgirl
  2. thanks carol and irumbu and laura. I did take a couple of days off. I might take the test again, but meanwhile, onto applications... i was reading that henry chauncey, the founder of ets, created the GRE into 1950 to guide people to their proper positions in the hierarchy of society. he sounds like a nut! nycgirl
  3. hi lydia, I took GRE last thursday. i'm also doing film studies phd. where are you applying? my scores were v680 q690 but i'm thinking about taking test again. best, nycgirl
  4. :shy: hi. I took the GRE today and got a v680 and q690. was disappointed bc I had done much better on the verbal in the kaplan, princeton and powerprep practice tests. i don't know what happened, but i'm wondering if this is a competitive score for humanities phd programs. any advice? nycgirl
  5. hi all, I took the GRE today and was shocked. I had been averaging about a 740 on the verbal and a 540 on the quant. this was fine with me since I will be applying to journalism and humanities programs. today I got a 690 on quant (a nice surprise), but only a 680 on verbal? can anyone tell me if this a competitive score for humanities phd programs? thanks, nycgirl:shy:
