@chachi Sorry I did not log in for long. Tip for writing: read as much as possible. Remember what you feel interesting about a structure, a different way of using a word... Then try to apply the structure and new word as early as possible. That's what I think worked well for me. For those who are working with your Toefl, I guess many of you know this, but I still want to say: 106 or 120 does not mean anything. You can get a admission but you still have a lot of problems with language, at least at your first term. So, try harder for yourself, not for admission only.

I got my score, 106 w 29 l 27 s 22 r 28 i'm ok with my result since i did not work hard and i need only 80.

Has anyone who took toeft test on July 11 got your score yet? It has been 15 working days till today and my score is still not available:hmm:

I agree with Jocatst. I think Longman is closer to the real test. However, Kaplan is still a good book.

I agree with Tseprep that Runner 180 did not mean to post a wrong question. However, the real Qs was something like "describe the job you have had and would like to have" (not only jobs you HAD).

In general I think the test was not difficult especially the listening. The listening was as easy as Longman's practice test. The speakers spoke clearly and slowly, not as fast as those in Kaplan test. The reading was divided into 2 (or three i don't remember) time slots. I was tricked by this. Usually I think each time slot was for reading 1 passage. But the last time slot was for reading 2 passages and I did not know this. I was a little surprise when I saw too many questions left for that 1 passage (actually those questions were for 2 passages), but I was still slow down and finally when I found out that there was another passage, it was too late. I often had a lot of extra time when practicing, but I was lack of time for that mistake stupidly. I had to guess the last few questions and this will definitely harm my score. The writing was not hard as well. The lecture in the intergrated task was clear and slow. it was about two kinds of recycling systems and the listening challenged the reading. It was not difficult at all. I did not do good in the speaking section because I did not practice well. To those who are going to take the test, practice hard on this part, all you need is to time your response well and practice to speak naturally. I think I could do much better if I practiced well. I am preparing for the test too. I think you should try Kaplan book and software. Barron and Long man have some model tests too. Take a model test, Figure out your weakness and focus on it. For speaking section, I think KingTout has a good advice (see Speaking forum). Yu should collect some real test questions then practice. I'm practicing to speak 5 topics a day and then correct those responds in the next day. For intergrated questions, I try to paraphase every piece of dialogue or essay that I go over in the day. Hello guys, What do you mean by "two good, one fair" or "two fair, one good"??? Speaking section has 6 task, so it should be a set of 6 "good" and/or "fair". Where do I misunderstand??? Or do they divide the speaking section into 3 groups: First two questions are the 1st group, then the next two and last two belong to other two groups? I need only 18 for speaking. Is it hard? How many "good" and "fair" do I need? Thanks for clarifying these for me.

I have found this topic on "Just finished the test". This is a real topic given on June 21st (today?). So I give it a try in less than 25 minutes. Thanks for any edit/suggest. Here is my essay. I strongly disagree that a person can achieve success by his/her personal looks and dressing style than by good ideas. Although good looking appearance can help one to get to success faster or easier, but it does not play a major role on his/her success. The major factor that decides a person’s success is one’s creavity and his/her own ability which mean having good ideas. When I was in college, I used to envy with some female friends who were really beautiful. They were so attracted and admired by many male friends. They could easily get contacts and essential information from one of many people who adored their appearance. Some of them achieved good scores when the exam is an oral one. However, when having a closer look at these friends, I found out their success came from not only their appearance, but also their knowledge and efforts. Those who did not pay any effort on studying did not get good grade on any exam, regardless it’s an oral or a written exam.Those who paid their attention only on their clothes and make up style did not get a good study result. Life is fairer than I thought. Now when I have entered a working environment, I have realized deeply that appearance may help a person to touch his/her success faster, but good ideas are things that bring about and strengthen someone’s success. There are many good examples supporting my argument. With the aid of plastic surgery, it's not difficult to become beautiful. If appearance decides success, what else do we need besides a plastic surgery? Nowadays, there are million beauties dressing fashionable everywhere, but only who are smart, have good ideas, good qualities become famous models or actors, actresses. For business women, not every successful business woman is beautiful. Our country’s vice president does not look beautiful, but she is smart and she has been loved by many people because of what she has done, what she has brought out to people in my country. Only good ideas can help her to reach her current position and strengthen her place there. In short, I believe everyone should care about his/her own appearance and dressing style, but they should care more about updating and deepening their knowledge in order to have more good ideas, because having good ideas is the main reason deciding a person’s success.

Hi Hien, I have not registed for the test yet. Actually I planned to take PBT which is easier for me but it turns out that there's no PBT available in my place. I'm still not ready for the iBT, hopefully I can make it on August.
