Should we strictly following there instruction ans send documents that have been asked or should we wbe sending resume / SOP or some other stuff from our side despite not being mentioned in universtity admission doc checklist ? 2. While reporting TOEFL and GRE scores by phone, department code needs to be specified. The list is GRE/Toefl bulletin specifies code for certain fields (Comp Science, Comp Engg, Elec Engg etc)). but in situation where department is like (Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering or Computer science and Elec Engg ) what code should be entered? The department website doesn't conatin department code. 3. Does masters courses vary from 27 Credit hrs to 54 Credit hours... ? 4. Which Universities should I consider certain for my profile listed in "final list" email ? 5. What is ideal size/length of SOP ? 6. Which Option bring more chances of financial aid (Thesis / Non thesis) ? 7. Does it harm your chances of admission if you apply in more than one category for admission ? 8. Does applying for part time harm chances of admission or visa ? 9. Showing 1 year of fin. support is enough or is it better to show fin. support for full duration (2 Years). 10. I have seen thoroughly but still haven't found checklist for admission in USC, whereby I can submit max docs online. Or atleast it says what docs need to be sent at certain address. can you please fwd: me link to that. 11. Are you people applying for fall 2004 admissions ?? Thanks Vinay, Ur mail has been very informative. Testmagic is nice place where peers are contributing for each other. If TestMagic is big ideal world, you people (with whopping 705 mails) are core making idealistic world possible. Regarding suggestions, I understand chances are low with UMCP, but I m banking on my experiece and good GPA+SOP to help me out (Atleast it will be clear if GRE is single most factor for faculty's decision making and fellow TestMagicians will benefit beside me). B t w what is forum for UMCP admissions I m aware of none. USC is also one place where fees are very high, I dont expect TA/ RA work there, despite me applying for that over there. but being california I hope to find some outside work like S/W dev, N/W DB Mgmt, Website Mgmt, teaching etc.. I dont have much idea. Probably Erin and other Seniors fellows like you can enlighten chances of finding part time work like this. I haven't got preapp ready for ready for admission at ISU. Neither I m aware of one. Please send me link, recommending this procedure. I would again request erin and company to describe chances in other enlised universities and role played by Exp + GPA + SOP in covering low GRE Scores. Pls Suugest for other Univ beside UO and OSU. Note: Erin Billy is also requested to put his expert views, as many working professional beside me are stuck in thsi situation, few of them personally known to me. What Role experience plays in admission, speically when GRE score is ordinary like ones that I carry.

Hi Chedafa1 and other fellow members, I have appeared in TOEFL test. It went Ok and range given is 217-273. Having provided all details abt test results, academic record (GPA above 3.5) and experience as software engineer for 3 years, I seek help from Erin and other members in suggesting suitable universities. Hi all, I am pretty disappointed with my GRE score :(. I feel more efforts and practice would have official report look far better. I m aspirant for MS Computer science. With this score I dont have much idea where should I apply to. I must add I have good GPA of 3.5 and am experienced Software engineer. My prime interest is field of computer security. I would be much thankful if Erin, his team and fellow forum members can guide me in slecting right kind of universities. My TOEFL test is scheduled on 15th of Nov. I dont know if how much that matters to selection criteria specially when one is having low Verbal and AWA score in GRE. Regards, Kish
