  1. I used Barron's and Longman's. Barron's is more advanced; while Longman's is more directed to the TOEFL questions. I recommend both. Good luck !
  2. Thanks man for your help :). I really appreciate it.
  3. Thanks for the input. Will ETS send the score to my email? Or I should ETS website. Wish me a good score :)
  4. Hi everyone, I took TOEFL on 23rd November, and I'm still waiting for my score. When should I expect it? Has anyone ever got his score in less than 3 weeks? Thanks !
  5. In my opinion, I don't think it's a good idea to say (Here ARE my two cents). It's a very colloquial term. It also just doesn't fit!
  6. This is the 5th question in the speaking section which integrates listening with speaking. In this question, you listen to a conversation between two students discussing a problem that one of them is encountering. The first student tells his/her friend about the problem. Then, the second student suggests him/her two or three solutions. What you need to do is to talk about the problem, mention the suggestions that the other student proposed and finally choose one of the suggestions and support your choice with details and reasons. What you can do to beat this question in terms of time is to firstly talk about the problem in approx. 10 seconds, then spend 15-20 seconds talking about the suggestion, and finally spend the rest of the time talking about your choice and explaining why you chose that (and also you ca explain why you did NOT choose the other suggestions). I hope this helps. Good luck!
  7. Longman's is also very useful. I bought Longman's book with 11 CDs (10 audio-1 cd with 2 complete tests and 8 mini test and skills revisions for all sections with quizzes). All the best,
  8. Congrats man. Very impressive score. I took the exam on 23rd November, and I'm still waiting for my score. Wish me luck :). All the best,
  9. Your Reading, Listening and Writing scores are great, I wish that I get like them. As for the speaking, it depends. If it's OK with your application to whatever..., then just leave it; your overall score is good. But, if you need around 21-23, then go for rescoring. Do NOT go for rescoring if you need more than 23-24, because GENERALLY the score never goes up more than 4 points. If it happened and you need more than 23-24, then you should retake it. I want to say it again: IF YOUR SCORE NOW IS OK FOR YOUR APPLICATION TO WHATEVER, DON'T RESCORE OR RETAKE THE EXAM. Your overall score is great. So as I told you, it depends. Good luck.
  10. And yeah, the listening was really hard, especially the Roman Art part :(.
  11. I got 5 reading passages. And I got 4 lectures and 2 conversations as far as I can recall. (The normal number of listening passage; I got extras in the reading.)
  12. Thank you guys for your replies. I took the TOEFL today 12PM (GMT+3). The reading and listening were really hard, while speaking and writing were kind of moderate. I don't know how am I going to spend these 3 weeks waiting for the results. I put my TOEFL books in the drawer few minutes, I wish that I'll not be compelled to take them out again :(. I'll keep you updated.
  13. Hi everyone, My TOEFL test is tomorrow, November 23th, at 12:00PM (GMT+3). I feel like I'm totally lost and scared, and I'm also very depressed; I really don't want to take this test again :(. Anyway, from what I observed from Barron's preparation book and Longman's is that Barron's is EXTREMELY hard, while Longman's is simpler and less complicated. How does the REAL toefl look like? Is it that hard?????? Please help me guys and give me some advices. I'm in real need of your beneficial advices. Thank you. Wish me luck tomorrow.
  14. Thanks man for your help. Wish me luck :) BTW, are you Egyptian?
  15. Hi friends, Is it OK if I wrote more than 200 words in the writing integrated task? Like if I wrote 230-250 words for example.? Thanks !
  16. Hey. I have TOEFL on November 23rd, I'd like to join your group. I'll download Skype today and I'll make an ID then I'll post it here. :) Good luck for all.
  17. Thank you Tseprep for your help. However, today I went to the test center and asked them about the passport, they said it was O.K. Thanks again. Wish me luck :).
  18. Hi everyone, My TOEFL iBT is on November 23rd, and till now I haven't put any institution in my TOEFL registration to send the results to. I applied for 2 universities, and I want to have my result sent to them by ETS when. 1- Can I add their addresses now for free? 2- I'm required to get a score higher than 100 for the admission, if I got less than that on my test, can I choose not to send my scores to the universities? 3- In ETS website, they say that I have to bring any form of identity which has my name in English, my photograph and signature. The only identity proof I have which qualifies for their requirements is my passport. But since I'm under 18, my passport has my fingerprint instead of my signature. What should I do? Thanks in advance :)!
  19. 1- The letter (I) must only be written in capital, writing it like this (i) is wrong. 2- It's (Internet), not (internet). 3- The essay is very short, my word processor says that it only contains 246 words. You have to write 300-400 words in the test. 4- There are many grammatical errors and typing mistakes. Corrected in RED. 5- You included new information in the conclusion paragraph. The conclusion paragraph of the essay only summarizes all of the information mentioned in the body of the essay, it should not contain new info. 6- The conclusion paragraph should contain all of the info written in the body of the essay in brief. But in this essay the conclusion does not summarize everything. Overall it's a good essay but you need to pay attention to grammar, make it longer and rewrite the conclusion following notes 5-6. I'm not bringing your spirits down, I just want the best for you. I'm not that good in writing essays by the way, my essays are much worse that this, so don't think that I'm arrogant or something :). Best of luck,
  20. Thank you for your reply. But can you please explain to me what is the wrong with the words you marked?
  21. Why do people want to live in cities? What are the disadvantages of living in cities? Discuss. In the present time, many people who live in small towns and villages want to live in cities. There are, however, many reasons for their intent to move. In cities, people can find better educational facilities for themselves and for their children. Most of the excellent schools and universities are found in large cities, not in small towns. Also, there are more jobs in cities rather than in towns, and there are also a greater variety of jobs in cities. I should also mention that in cities you can find better and hospitals and health facilities, which explains why many patients who live in towns come to large cities looking for more advanced medical care. In addition to all of that, there are much more entertainment places in cities than in towns, so people who live in cities can find many ways for having fun and spending their free time with friends and families. Although cities are much better than towns at many fields, but, however, cities are not perfect and do have lots of disadvantages. First of all, you can never fresh air in cities similar to that in towns and villages. Cars, home appliances, factories and many other factors are all polluting the atmosphere of cities, the more the technology advances, the more the pollution increases. Secondly, there are higher rates of crimes ion cities than in towns; there are people in some cities that do not feel safe even in their own houses. Also, cities are very crowded; sometimes just bringing few home things from a near grocery can take a long time. These are just few examples of the disadvantages of living in cities, there are many more and more. In conclusion, both of living in small towns and villages and living in cities have their own advantages and disadvantages. I, myself, even though I live in a big city, prefer to live in a small town where I can live a less complicated life. So people should think of their need in advance in order for them to take the correct decision and choose where to live.
  22. Write a description of your home, describe the entrance to it, and write about a room you particularly like. There are many kinds of houses which differ in their looks, features and lots of other things. But no matter how much they look different, they all have the same definition, the place where you feel safe, comfortable and settled. As for me, I like modern houses. They are, in my opinion, more up-to-date and more attractive. I live in a spacious modern two-stories house in the center of Saudi Arabia's capital city, Riyadh. When people look at my house from the street, they see, right away, the high trees around my house and the brickwork roof of it. When you enter the front door you can see the huge chandelier in the top of the entrance hallway. Also, you'll definitely notice the white marbled stairs up to the first floor. In the first floor, there are two bedrooms, one bathroom and a large living room. The living room, which is the room that I really like in my house, has two big sofas and a very nice massage chair. And with an amazingly huge LCD screen in it, it is quite nice for watching movies and having some popcorn at night! My home, for me, is very important. Everyday when I come back from work and close my front door, I have a nice feeling that my day was special. Without a house that you like, you can never go on with your life. _______________________________________________________________________________ I'm supposed to have TOEFL next week, but I'll postpone it to November or December. I don't have problem with reading and listening. But, as you can see in that bad passage, I really do have problems with speaking and writing. The essay I wrote above is not from a TOEFL preparing book or something, it's just a topic in one of my English books. I know it'll never come on a TOEFL test, but I'm trying to write a lot to improve my writing skill. Please read my essay, and tell me how can I make it better. Thanks!
