Hi all; Im a final year mechanical engineering student. I am applying for different universities in North america and want u to evaluate my profile and my chances for admission. GPA: 3.68 Rank: Departement of Mechanical engineering (2nd)- Mechatronics Bransch: (1st)... 3 recommendation letters (should be perfect)... Awrds / Honors: Listed on the presedent's honor list and the Dean's honor list for allover my studying period in the university. Had a schoolarship for all my undergraduate study period. Awarded three times for getting the highest average in the departement. Worked for one year as a part time engineer performing and supervising the NDT (nondestructive tests). Worked for one year as a manager for a "beauty shop http://www.rubyflag.com/forum/images/smilies/surprise.gif " and selected as the best employee in the year.http://www.rubyflag.com/forum/images/smilies/whistlin.gif Was selected to participate in a national conferance related to youth and thier problems. Had a meeting with my country's king as a talented youth with promisisng future. TOEFL score: 93 (R25 L26 S22 W20) GRE score: 1070 (Q800 V270:wallbash:) -------------------------- Will my low verbal score affect my chances, and what is its importance for engineering students :grumpy:???I did what Im supposed to do in the Quantitative part... I have got a TOEFL score that covers the minimum in most universities in my major, and Im not studying History or Biology to have the essential need of great vocabulary or verbal ability. Hi all; 1: I have the gre test tomorrow and I still know nothing about that new part in the Math section (fill in blanks)... Will my score in it be part of my final score or it is just an experimental part for future tests... 2: Im really zero in the Verbal part (except the reading passages) and I do too bad in it (practice tests 270-320)... I need some strange help here: Is there any kind of statistics for the most common choice (A,B,C,D or E). If u have just taken the test which letter was repeated most .... plz replay as soon as u can...

solving by equations: y-y0=m(x-x0) , where m is the slope y-r=p(x-p) y=r+px-p^2 x intercept ----> y=0 x=(p^2-r)/p x=p-r/p since rp if p is +ve then x is positive if p is -ve then it depends the answer is D

Hi Kiks,, Me too, I had the Toefl on 17 OCt and my score is not available yet,,, Im afraid that the score will be delayed one more day because of the American elections (I think today is a holiday in the US).

Hi This is my advice for listening and speaking. Dont try to write everything, just write the things that u think should be written and could not be memorized ... try to memorize as u can from the passage but when u hear sentences like the following write it down, not in detail but the important thing in it only: there are three factors affect ....: 1- 2- 3- write down these 3 factors. ..... has four parts: 1- 2- 3- 4- write them down... also when u hear dates like (1970 , 2000, ....) write them down with little explanation of each of them like ( he was born in 1970 --- write 1970 born) For speaking believe me the best way is to speak in english as u can ... even speak with ur self when u r alone (at home, in the street, ...), give ur opinion in everything happens in front of u (in english of course).... and the most important thing in the speaking section ... never stop talking ... I mean when u r recording ur voice or talking dont stop because of lack of vocabulary ... just keep talking and when u finish ur talking period go to the dictionary to find a meaning for that word ... Also somethin could oimprove ur speaking: Record ur voice on the computer and listen to it ... dont be shy of hearing ur voice ... if u didnt like what u did repeat rcording again for the same topic ... but don delete the previous record. Why? because when u return to it after 1 week or more u will be proud f ur self improvement ...

Hi all; I have finished the toefl today... It was too difficult exam ... specially the reading and listening parts .. I never read such passages ... I missed the concentration in most of the listening passages ... I did well in the speaking section -as I think- Writing: Integrated : OK I predict 3.5-4 But the independet was average about 3 Any feedback from today's test takers ???

hi all ; Im a new member here and I want to know if the GRE is an important and essential exam for applying to the US universities ... I mean If I have a distinguished GPA, have three recommendation letters that Im an outstanding student and a toefl score that covers the minimum needed... Is the GRE still essential for me for addmision (not the exam itself but the result)... Im an engineering student and I have no problem with the Quantitative part but not that good with the other parts ... Will the TOEFL be sufficent to componsate these linguistics Parts... im planning to apply to MIT, Stanford, California Berkeley and McGill Univs.... Thanx
