  1. The formulae is (An-A1)/2 *n. 1+3+5+7...991 Here we need to find n first. An = A1 + (n-1)d 991=1+ (n+1)2 990 = 2n+2 992 = 2n n=496 terms. Now Sum = (991 + 1)* 496/2 = 992*496 /2 = 496*496 = 246016
  2. A little of what I know I shall say... We all agree that the problem persisted in the past and is still continuing in the present. I such cases the use of Present Progressive must be used.... has/have + past participle - shows that the action started in the past and continued in the present... So C is correct.. But I also agree, it is not the best sentence..
  3. This is to the TM gurus, I have encountered too many explainations for the use of Like VS As Please give the rules that should be checked...
  4. The following appeared in a memorandum from the business department of the Apogee Company. "When the Apogee Company had all its operations in one location, it was more profitable than it is today. Therefore , the Apogee Company should close down its operations from a single location. Such centralization would improve profitability by cutting costs and helping the company maintain better supervision of all employes" ESSAY The argument that the centralisation of the company operations will increase the profitability of the company is not entirely logical, because it ignores certain crucial assumptions. First, the argument assumes that by centralisation they will reduce the cost and increase profitability . There are number of reasons this might not be true. For example if the sales of the company have reduced due very high sales price then even after decreasing the overhead wont boast the sales resulting into continued loss. Second, the srgument assumes that better supervision will increase the profitability. It assumes that the reduction in profits are due to lacklusterattitude of the employes which might be true but for reason other than stated. Improper job allocation according to the individuals capacity might have resulted into a bad performance of the employees. Thus the company HR might be at fault. Third, closing of the company offices will increase profitability is what the argument statea. It might be a bad decision on the companies part ,because doing so the company will adversly increase the transportation cost which accounts for around 70% of the product cost. Thus leading to increased losses than profit. Also closing the field offices will hamper the customer relationship adversely due to poor market reach leading to loss of market share. The claim that the centralised operations will bring the company back to its previous profitable state may be corrent only if the expansion that the company made was overestimated. Else the company is failing to consider other factors responsible for the decreased profitability such as poor customer support, poor market survey and so poor forecasting leading to over production and thus inevitable losses, poor product quality, outdates technology. Thus the argument that the centralisation of the companyresulting into cost cutting and proper suoervision is flawed due to above raised assumptions. The author could have strenthened the argument by saying that the company's expansion by building field offices was a hasty incorrect decision taken due to faulty market survey and forecast. PLEASE GIVE YOUR OPINIONS and RECOMMENDATIONS...more than happy to read them.:D

  7. I think there is some problem in the question options...or may be option B has been incorrectly represented.... still I will give my answer, 1. gives a quadratic if value of B is substitued , that has two roots. so there will be two values of B so it cannot yield one answer - INSUFFICIENT. 2. A2B = 80 IF its A*2*B = 80 , then its again AB=40 ...so INSUFFICIENT. Also together they are insufficient... so IMO E.
  8. thank you cesar82 and smallbee.....for correcting.
  9. A man chooses an outfit from 3 different shirts, 2 different pairs of shoes, and 3 different pants. If he randomly selects 1 shirt, 1 pair of shoes, and 1 pair of pants each morning for 3 days, what is the probability that he wears the same pair of shoes each day, but that no other piece of clothing is repeated? 1. (1/3)^6*(1/2)^3 2. (1/3)^6 (1/2) 3. (1/3)^4 4. (1/3)^2*(1/2) 5. 5* (1/3)^2
  10. The paintings of French painter Trianne Dejere sold best in the period following the production of La Triumph, now Dejer's most famous piece. In the 12 month period preceding the unveiling of this piece , Dejere sold 57% of the works she produced in this period , a far greater percentage than in previous years. In the 12 month period following a glowing review of La Triumph in a popular magazine ,however, Dejere sold 85% of the paintings she produced. Interestingly , Dejers's revenue from the painting sales was roughly the same in both periods, since she sold the same number of paintings in the 12 months before presenting La Triumph as she did in the 12 months following the favourable review. which of the following statements can be properly concluded from the passage , if the information above is true? A.] Due to the positive review, Dejere was able to charge substantially more for the works produced after La Triumph than the works produced before it. B.] Dejere was more concerned with the positive reviews than with increasing the prices of her paintings. C.] The positive review of La Triumph brought Dejer's work to the attenstion of more art collectors than were previously aware of her work. D.]Dejere painted fewer works in the 12 month period following the review of La Triumph than she had in the 12 month period preceding its unveiling. E.] Dejere paid more attention to marketing her paintings after La triumph received such a positive response. Please give ur answers with explanations...as i am not convinced with the OA. Will post OA later.
