  1. should I address it on my app? I have an economics background. Econ major/math minor undergrad, masters in economics from top 20 U.S dept and currently M.P.H student (will be done by June 09) I had been able to get away with not a really good GRE so far because I have research experience, so that's how i got into my econ masters and for the mph they did not asked for it since I had a grad degree already. what do you think? any shot at top health policy schools?
  2. Italos, what program did he/she got into? am applying in health policy programs... there are so few in the States, that they're mostly top universities, but there's not a rank per se of programs themselves. So, berkeley Health services admin, Yale health admin, harvard health policy, john hopkins, etc... I emailed them and they said it is uncommon and they did not have a policy regarding this... IS THAT GOOD OR BAD?? I have a (terminal) masters in economics, and research experience, right now am finishing a masters in public health..... what are my chances??
  3. what is the policy for retaking ONLY one section of the GRE? Say i did as well as I could have on verbal, and sort of good on analytical, but not on quant and I ONLY retook the quantitative part, that is, I voluntariliy exited the other sections, so scores for other sections read N/A and for quant is now a 750.... ANY IDEAS? SHOULD I RETAKE ALL SECTIONS? AM I SCREWED?
  4. from what I've heard schools won't read your apps until after the winter break, so early january. I would say you are fine, you do know your verbal and quant scores so just input them on the online apps, and have the actual scores be sent from ets to the schools before january or early january.
  5. does anyone know, what's the most common procedure for departments regarding the retaking the GRE? I retook only the quant part, that is, I voluntarily exited the other sections, i did over 100 points better the second time I took it, granted that I only took one section. I am now hearing this is not at all common, and would like some input. should i retake the whole exam in January, will it be too late? please help
  6. I think I messed up really bad I took the exam the first time and got verbal 480 quant 640 analytical 5.0 retook it and exited all sections but quantitative and got quant 750 I had heard people exiting sections and retaking only those they thought it mattered the most, they could be better, or whatever.. now speaking to some other people it seems that I did something terrible should i retake? :( has someone done this too? heard of someone who've done it? It made no sense for me to retake the verbal, am not a native english speaker, though I went to college in the US am applying to health econ-policy programs
  7. can someone give some advice??? I retook the GRE, but exited all sections except the quant part I am not a native english speaker the first time i took my exam results were: verbal: 480 quant:640 analytical: 5.0 the second time I exited all sections except quant so quant: 750 did i just completely messed up??? please someone comment!
  8. I had heard of people only retaking certain sections of the gre, mostly, skipping the analytical part when retaking the exam since schools are able to see all your grades from the past five years. I retook only the quantitative part and got over 100 points better than when I took the whole exam. my scores are: First time: quant: 640 verbal: 480 analytical: 5.0 Second time Quant: 750 am not a native english speaker, but I thought my analytical scores showed that at least I had a good domain of the language, since I am applying to programs in health policy, I just wanted to show I could also do well on quant. HOW BAD DID I MESSED UP?
