  1. I'm not looking to get into top 10 with BU MA, but I'm reaching for somewhere between 15 to 30. Canadian and European MAs are not an option for me, so I'm still deciding whether BU MA will be well worth it.
  2. What about BU and Duke? Which one is more likely to send its MA graduates to good PhD programs?
  3. I'm waiting on USC. Still waiting, but will give up soon.
  4. I've done those classes, and done poorly due to special circumstances. I don't know if I can retake those classes again when I'm in MA program.
  5. Thanks alot, Ceterus. You are right. Is it wise to take grad math courses? I've done a lot of upper math already. I have no idea what the grad math courses are, and wonder if it's much harder. Anyway, I really appreciate your advice.
  6. Thanks, Ceterus. I'm sure enough that PhD is what I'm going after, not money. Since my undergrad GPA is mediocre, I'll do what it takes to ace BU MA, and reapply to top 30 range schools and some top 20. That's why I want to do some PhD level courses (and do well) to boost up my chance.
  7. I'm also in the same situation. I'm thinking of doing MA in BU then taking on to PhD. My heart is with the PhD, but I'm not sure if I'm doing it right by going to BU for MA. Any idea? I want to take PhD level courses once I'm there, but I don't know if that is possible.
  8. I think it is safe to assume that for those who applied to UMN, UCDavis, and Clemson and haven't heard from them have already been rejected. Sorry, i'm a bit pessimistic :(
  9. Do I have a chance at BU, Duke, or any other good MA programs? Anyone know some good MA in the U.S because I think I can't do MA in Canada for personal reason. Thanks a lot everyone. Happy holiday!
  10. Type of Undergrad: B.A. Econ from top 15 econphd ranking Undergrad GPA: 3.35/4, Type of Grad: Econ Grad GPA: 4/4 (only 2 courses, not math rigorous) GRE: 740Q, 440V, 4.0AWA Math Courses: All Calc (A's) Linear Algebra (A) Adv Linear Algebra (B+) Diff Eq (B) ODE (C+ ouch!) Real Analysis (C ouch!) Game theory (C+) Econ Courses: Inter Micro (B) Inter Macro (A-) Econometrics (A) Alot other econ classes (mostly A's some B's) Applying to: USC, UCI, UCLA, UCBerkeley, UCSD, UCDavis, JHU, Duke (MA), BU (MA), BC, Michigan, Minnesota, IUB (MA) 3.5 GPA before those three C's. My GPA went down after those three C's. I was desperate now, and I want to drop all those top 20 schools because I feel that I will eventually waste my money. Mediocre GRE, mediocre grades and GPA. What will be my possible range? 50ish? Are there any good MA in the US I can reach for to fix my mediocre grades while studying for another shot at GRE next year? Any suggestion?
