when i was in high school without any prep I scored around 1300 hundred, 690 math , 590 verbal and that even got me into some engineering schools. I graduated with a CS degree 5 years ago...
yesterday i took the gre exam after looking through the Kaplan book for 2 days prior,
1# first of all, the kaplan book does not prepare you at all because the questions on the exam
were way tougher than the Kaplan book.. I have been out of school for over 5 years and the math concepts in kaplan were definetly terse
this was my first time (practice or otherwise) sitting and taking the Gre, and I was overwhelmed by two things
a) I wasn't able to be quick , I like to take my time and make sure all the bases are covered, and I dont like to make mistakes. I think I spent like 5 minutes on 1 problem that I just wasn't sure. I only finished like 20/30
b) the four hours just wore me out, I got the writing, reserach sections first and by the time I got to math or verbal section I was so just ready to go home.
c) Definetly BRING snacks or some protien. I took the test at evening and I was hungry the entire 4 hours.
I am just shocked and surprised to tell you the truth, I honestly do not think i am this dumb, I got 490 M and 490 V...
but then again I have some theories why I did so much better when I was younger than now...

is it possible that I have become more duller or slower with my age? have I lost some of my sharpness?
for the past 5 years I worked as a computer programmer in a very stressful environment, do you think the stress just wore me out?
