  1. I have to be an honorary board member for a journal in the field I founded I guess. Econonometrica all the way! There is a book on Urban Econonomics already :) Amazon.com: Urban Econonomics and Planning Models: Assessing the Potential for Cities in Developing Countries (World Bank): Professor Rakesh Mohan: Books
  2. If you look at the top 10 thread, some one pasted rankings from previous years there. If what they pasted is true, the ranking has not changed at all in the past few years. Maybe people's assessment has not changed. But more likely that there has been no updates to the ranking in recent years.
  3. opps, sorry for the title, can't seem to change it now. I guess I just created a new field :)
  4. The Grad School Rankings Are Coming Soon - Morse Code: Inside the College Rankings (usnews.com) I know there is a my top 10 school thing already. This ranking will be a long overdued update on peer-assessment. Which school do you expect from the new peer assessment? Pretty excited about this. If this is a full update, we should expect to see a lot of changes. Columbia and NYU might be up? Other schools down? U.S. News and World Report is pretty influential, this is going to be a big deal. By the way, as someone pointed out in the top 10 thread, U.S. news reprints grad ranking usually. Has been so for the past few years I guess. So that is why this is kinda exciting. " The upcoming 2010 edition of our America's Best Graduate Schools rankings will be published online on April 23, 2009, at usnews.com. We're currently redesigning our grad school rankings website in order to improve the usability for the business, law, engineering, medicine, education categories as well as the rest of the rankings. ................ ................ ................ Also new in the 2010 edition will be updated peer-assessment-only rankings for Ph.D. programs in English, history, psychology, sociology, political science, economics, and criminology and criminal justice. In addition, we will be publishing new rankings for master's degree programs in library and information studies. ................ ................ "
  5. This result is probably one of the best piece of information there is out there for future generations. Hope people see this.
  6. This year there has been little movement on waitlists. As of last by the end of last week, I don't think many (probably 0) people have been taken off waitlist for funding. At the fly out, they already said there were 10 people who took up offers. Penn might end up with a big class again. Don't keep any hopes up.
  7. Oh, that's interesting. Did you get accepted to any programs jointly? I thought very few schools let you do JD/PhD, I think George Mason and Stanford and Upenn do it, do other schools do it? Do you know people who have succeeded on this track and what do they end up doing? I am thinking about doing this too.
  8. My natural feeling is that Upenn is a more reputable school. If you look at placement overtime, not just for a single year, I think it is pretty clear that Upenn places a lot better than BU. BU is in Boston, so you can participate in Harvard/MIT stuff perhaps. I am actually comparing the two also. I do like Boston, the city.
  9. I am interested, they seem to have a large faculty, and they have had top 10 placement. Looking at their list of graduate placements, I am confused as to why there is so many more students graduating from more recent years. Did they significantly increase the size of their program?
  10. Does anyone have a placement information about people who go to CMU? They do a list on their website, but not by year. And I hear they fail half of their class ( 3 out of 6 maybe?) is that true?
  11. When are you visiting? I want to visit too. Eric did not reply to me
  12. I am thinking about cornell too, you would choose that over Chicago? I am scared by their placement record and the location. But the Sage fellowship is nice.
  13. This thread is great, thanks for all the tips. I guess I will just email schools and make sure they know what to expect. thanks!
